Ok, I am not sure if this question/discussion has come up before by I am curious.
I am curious about those of us that buy and keep minty fresh on the card and in the boxes. Why do you do it? Dont you want to play with your toys? When I used to collect Star Wars, I would get one to take out and one to keep on the card but after years of dust collecting on the carded stuff and room running out quick, I decided to open what I could get away with and sell the rest. I personally open everything and collect cool figures on the card (2nd) but I dont keep it all fresh and minty...how bout you? |

I like the look of them in the package. I tried buying an extra to open, opened probably a good 40 figures and some vehicles, but they just sat there, until I put them in bags, and was like what the f... So I sold them, kept only 2-3.
Once I get a large enough display room, I would like to display all my sealed Joes somehow and other toys. But for now (still looking for a new house) it looks like I will only have enough room for statues and movies. |

I say open your toys. Especially the ROC and 25th/ME stuff. I don't think it'll ever be worth much. If you can't enjoy your toys, what's the point of having them?

I have opened all of mine. Honestly, I just spent over $600 on ROC stuff so I have to justify it somehow. If I just box it up and leave it in the packs then whats the point of buying it. It can stay that way in the store and since I am not a retailer it just doesn't make any sense to me to buy stuff just to store. I personally find the dioramas and things of that sort interesting and they make great displays. I am not sure I will ever play with any of them since I am old and life has robbed me of my imagination, but I do enjoy posing them in various positions to spice up the displays a bit.

I used to be a card collector. Had to have every variation of the card or figure but I never really appreciated the toys themselves until about 3 years ago. Now I open everything except for ultra rare or chase figs. I have alot more fun with my kids this way too.

Open them unless you know something about the figure being worth alot. You know like variants, mistakes, recalls , or whatever.

If you want to inest in toys, buy hasbro stock. Otherwise open your stuff and have fun. These figs will never be worth anything because so many collectors are keeping them mint.
