Everyone seems to have an opinion on this one way or another. I get both sides, as I'm sure the majority of you do.
It sucks not to be able to find things when you're looking for them. Feelings of disappointment and frustration abound. These are normal feelings/reactions. I understand business, free-markets, supply and demand. It's not hard to figure out, this is what our country is all about, capitalism. The people who don't agree with the whole thing are frustrated because it's not their job to "hunt for toys". It's their hobby. They do it part-time, for recreation. The people who make it their job, do so to capitalize on that fact. They beat collectors to it and buy it all up so they can re-sell it at a profit and spend those profits however they see fit. It is what they do. Basic stuff, nothing hard to figure out here. In my opinion, the frustration on the collectors part is really centered on the fact that people actually go out and make it their job to do this. People naturally wonder, "Can't they get a real job?", "What, they don't think they have to "work" for a living?", "What about the kids? They're the reason my mom and dad couldn't find me that Storm Shadow when I was a kid..!", etc. You can make the argument one way or another, and both sides have valid points. There isn't any right or wrong here, just opinion. As it often happens with opinion, people try to pass it off as the absolute truth, which it isn't. It may be for them, but one persons truth may not always be that of another. There is where the debates start and the humor begins. My question is this: Why can't both sides just concede that the other side makes good points and, as contradictory as it is, agree to disagree? All things naturally gravitate toward the path of least resistance. This isn't any different. Sometimes you're the river, and sometimes your the mountain. Either way, it is what it is. Which ever side of the discussion that you find yourself on, stop wasting your time and energy being angry/frustrated. Accept it and move forward. In my area, there are a lot of Hot Wheel collectors. Many of these guys stay "in the know" on what's HTF in the action figure market, and when they see it, they'll buy it. I've talked to several, and they tell me it is how they pay for their Hot Wheels.
HTF in my area constitutes ALL shortpacks, female figures, McFarlane variants and or MI sports stars. |

Low-life crooks? Ruins collecting? Get a real job? That's a little melodramatic.
>>>>>>> Melodramtic ....I think you need to go back and re-read what i originally posted ,it seems you just took certain words out and judged them for the sole basis of my explanation . I also said that i DON'T mind paying a little bit more for something if i want it ,i understand these guys need to make back something they invested in ,but what i find unreasonable is when the price is over flatted to the point where most of us are turned off from buying it because we can't afford it ,that is pure greed and they will loose in the long run because no one will buy it and they will be stuck with it . Comparing a scalper to BBTS is inaccurate to say the least ,i have bought stuff from BBTS and their prices are reasonable ,this is why i did business with them again because they saitsfy the customer and when the customer is happy he will come back .But the jokers who charge three or four times the amount for something don't look at the long term gain ,they just want to make a quick cash grab . |

Dictionary Term:to resell (tickets, merchandise, etc.) at higher than the official rates. "Makes you a scalper", and if you are at target every morning before the store opens, you are most likely a scalper.

When you see somebody leave with a cart full of Hot Wheels, Wii remotes, and IM War Machines and loads them into his *Giant Toy Store.com* van and then you go to the aisle only to feel like this guy:
then your store has been visited by a scalper. Legal stuff before someones gets offended: *Giant Toy Store.com* is a generic place-holder name and not intended to be any particular "business". and no animals were harmed while typing this post. |
