3 area Target's have been at $7.84 for awhile and 2 other stores were at $6.99 yesterday, but are now at $7.84 as well.

Yep. $8.69 in thousand oaks. Sigh. And most of the stores here had stayed at $6.99 for a while.
Ridiculous!

Target off of 45/130 in Austin was still in the high $7 range. Didn't bother me none because I got me a Flash, crimson Neo-Viper and Ice-Viper.

I found the latest wave with the Doctor at Walmart for $7.88, the same price currently as all of my local Target stores. If I passed on those figures at $8 there is no way I'm buying any at $8.50 or $9.
Whole sale prices continue to fall but stores and or toy companies continue to try to bully toy consumers... f that. |

Guys seriously...
Prices increase with time- it's just the way of capitalism... Rest assured most of these ROC figs will be on sale 3 for $5 soon enough and then you can buy as many as you want, and still have enough left over to get that one "rare" from Ebay for 20 bucks. I used to scream to high heaven about Games Workshop prices- so I stopped paying retail for them and eventually started crafting many of my own. I think the real problem with ROC figures isn't the price, it's the Ugly Cobras. For the first time in my life I find myself preferring the Joes... the Good guys.... now that I think of it.... see new post (Is Cobra Ugly on purpose?) |

I wonder how much longer til the whole toy collecting thing crashes & burns. More & more people are getting out of it. It's not fun at all anymore. And money is getting harder & harder to come by these days.

I honestly can't believe anyone on this site is shocked or outraged by a sudden and inexplicable spike in the retail price of these toys. These figures were retailing for 5 bucks when the line started in '07, and have gone up to 8,9,10 bucks at retail, all over the country, in 2 years. Look at the Marvel lines; they started out at these prices. What recourse do we really have, as consumers? We could all get together and agree to boycott these lines and they'll cease in a heart beat, or we can just bend over and take it without lube and fork over the cash and keep them going. Action figures are going to continue to become a more specailized market the older the target consumer becomes. Despite all of the complaining coming from the consumers of these products over the constant price-hikes and the complaints that this particular line has diverged from what got so many of us hooked on it, we keep paying for them. Look at He-Man. If a collector wants to keep buying the products, they have to pay 10 bucks retail, PLUS shipping and handling. It is only a matter of time before on-line is the only method we'll have for getting these toys. Last edited by Joseph; 08-27-2009 at 04:26 AM.. |
