I work retail. If its on the floor take and buy it. We are in the business to sell stuff. It's our job to get it on the shelf for you to buy and if we don't then its our fault. I don't know TRU's policy, but you did their job for them. They didn't have to put it on the shelf.

I always laugh when they say you can't do that. The TRU by me puts the cases on the ground right in front of the shelf they go on and leave them there on the floor. What's the big deal? They were just gonna put it out anyway.

That's cool dude. I hate when I go to Meijer or Wal Mart late and they got the boxes out there to tease you.

I work at a TRU, and all you guys have to do is ask an associate if they can open a box because you're looking for a particular item and be nice about it. I won't deny that some associates I've worked with in the past weren't very helpful to collectors. One huge reason is that some people ruin it for everybody else, wether it be a greedy collector or a scalper. I have a good example. About 2 weeks ago (I wasn't there that day) a guy went up to an associate asking why there weren't any All Star Kobe Bryants on our shelf (there were plenty of Kevin Garnetts and Lebron James) when we had told another store we did. Apparently those 3 share the same SKU#. This guy claimed that another store called on his behalf and we confirmed we had Kobe Bryants on the shelf. Guess what ?? That wasn't true. He demanded that one of the new supervisors (who didn't know any better) check the stockroom inventory, and it turned out we had full cases in the back. This guy walked out with 7 Kobe Bryants !!! He lied his way into getting what he wanted. He did in fact go to another store and they did tell him that we showed stockroom inventory, BUT they never told him we had Kobes on the floor. He just decided to tell a lie to get his way. The floor was already packed with LJs and KGs. Yes he payed for them, yes we made a sale, but is it fair for anyone else that wanted a Kobe ?? It's B.S. like this that sometimes discourages associates from dealing with adult collectors.

The TRU's that I frequent have always been nice and obliged my request to check if there were anymore of a certain wave in the back as Im looking for certain figures to complete a set.
As a result, they get all my toy and baby item purchases...not to mention that the one associate that brought out and opened 2 boxes for me, got a nice message commending his customer service to his manager. |

Today I found wave 3 at TRU during the sale. I am excited. I will admit I have done the box opening once or twice with the key.
