i go to alot of targets here in minnesota. i have never been treated like i just took a crap on the ground. i'll ask on employee about something if they dont know most of the time they will get someone that does useally.now im not a litte petite guy. im a big bastard, fat some would say (not to my face though) dont smell bad and can some times be a nice guy.so apperance is not a factor at least not to me or the employees i talk to. just act decent. and if you get an idiotic employee ask for the manager. if that dose not help well..............burn the bastards hahaha!!!! j/k.

My Target had hot chicks working overnight!
I worked overnight as well, and was the rage filled envy of my co-workers since I spoiled their dirty plans. These guys jus did not let up with hitting on these girls like thugs, but they just fell my way since I'm a clueless goof. I've since quit, but my baby son is from the overnight queen! *pats self on back* I think the woman's attitude, and lying wasn't appropriate. There is no effing special overnight shipment. People told me that while I worked there! Often times the stuff is stashed somewhere in the stockroom so street dates can't be broken, because of fines or whatever. She could have just said it can't go out until it's supposed to. I think attitudes vary by store. Some stores have the same collectors/scalpers banging at the door every single morning. If a store has tons, or particularly rude ones, or guys that are clearly scalping stuff that parents end up calling about all day, the employees may develop a bias. Unfortunately, people get stereotyped with them. I also think this employee was a real stickler for rules and it gives you power to deny someone as well. the date she told me about the special magical truck was on street date, target had their sale paper, TRU had already put it all out on sat, and with in 3 hours of me leaving 3 fully stocked endcaps plus more was on the floor set by her...she knew it was there but decieded to not sell to me because she figured i was a scalper |

Hot chicks are cool. I've seen a couple cute ones at the one by my work. But back to the issue of Target being toy-nazis...I think that there's probably some stores that have people like us working there and grabbing all those chase figures! GOOD FOR YOU GUYS! ...We'll get around to 'em in time. My big gripe is with the people who can't afford them so they wreck the packages in hopes that the one they have will magically rise in value...

Well, #1...Do you go to these stores often, like 5 times in a week? #2 Are you fat, going bald and smell like armpits and salomi? #3 Do you hover around the back door bay area peaking in from time to time for new product or tear open boxes of figs on the pallets without even asking? If you answered yes to all these questions, then you fit the description of a scalper and that's why you are being treated poorly.
If your not a well behaved reasonable customer you deserve to get treated like crap by employees But if your a well behaved valued customer, you do not deserve to be treated like crap by one ignorant employee that is failing to do there job by offering friendly helpful customer service. If a Doctor has a bad bed side manor they can be sued, but a retail employee who does a crappy job should be allowed to continue being a jerk to customers. I don't think so |

Ive worked in retail alot more than I would have like to in my life, the primary goal is to sell merchindise as fast as possible which would explain why slow moving merchindise go's on sale and eventually clerance. In my opinion it is a very bad strategy to enforce a policy that prohibits a "scalper" or a "collector" from buying a particular product only to cater to children who are most likely not going to buy this product and if they do,they most likely wont buy as much of it.
You make a good point about the long term success of a buisness also being a goal but a company does that by catering to the customers who visits the most and spends the most money in their store. Who gets a tab at a bar,the regulars, not the guy who comes in there once in a blue moon. Good customer service, affordable prices, product availability, cleanlyness are all factors when you are trying to build relationships with customers in order to make them a customer for life, that is how you ensure long term success. You also bring up another good point about the average employee not being a factor in the companies strategic decision making. They may not be a factor but they are the ones enforcing these rules and sometimes they are not consistant with enforcing them, certain people get one responce and others get another responce. Plus you have to factor in how it is done, some of these employees have absolutely no peoples skills. You can deny a customer certain services without offending or pissing them off,Ive done it a million times,it is as simple as politely explaining to them that that particular request is against the stores policy and if they would like, you are more than willing to contact a member of managment so that they can confirm your claim. The customer usually just walks away pissed off but atleast you can say that you made an honest attempt to help that customer. as far as Target treating collectors like criminals. hardly. more like losers. can't say that isn't appropriate. |

that's the risk of employing minimum wage (or only slightly higher) employees with very little incentive, but the risk is worth the reward of low operating costs and low prices, and for the most part you are going to get employees who care enough to do their job well, even if they don't attempt to excel.

I guess I just want to know where this odd belief people have of how we "deserve" to be treated comes from...it's up there with the terms illegal war and human rights. All three things are constructs of man, not actual realities so much as ideals...last I checked ideals do not constitute reality.

Aw man, you reminded me of this one Walmart I went to in a bad part of town. I literally saw a turd on the floor in one of the aisles. I am not joking. God, I wish I was joking. I guess it's safe to say the workers didn't treat that turd dropper very nicely.

I like the Target exclusives...I just don't like TARGET in general. Any store that opposses "Toys for Tots" and the Salvation Army donations...is crap in my book.

I know that we have several members here who work for target and other retail stores and I want them to know that Im not trying to bash them or their level of employment. I have been the employee that had to deal with the disrespectful over demanding customers as well as the customer who has/had to deal with the lazy, rude and sometime incompetant employee,so I see it or have seen it from both sides. My complaints are mainly with the company and some of its policies which I find to be stupid.
