I was looking at all the Joe figures I've accumulated over the years, and to my suprise I have at least one figure for each year that Habro has released a Joe Line. I say at least one since I never intended to get a Sigma Six figure, but TRU gave me one anyway, Duke w/ Laser cannon, which came free when I purchased 2 Crimson Guard packs a couple of years back. Similarly, while the ROC initial waves never appealed to me, I still ended up with ROC figures on account of the vechicles.
Looking at the figures, I found it interesting how the design was pretty much the same for decades, and it was only in the last couple of years that they evolved. Specifically, I noticed how from vintage to DTC eras all Joe 3.75 figures were articulated to turn at the waste. However at the onset of the 25th line, Hasbro moved the joint mid-chest to where the diaphragm would be. Does anyone else find this disturbing? I suppose it wouldn't be so bad if Hasbro also kept the waist joint, but I just can't wrap my head around a mid-chest joint as it makes the figure look unnatural. Is there some benefit to the new design? Unfortunately, my DTC figures are MOC so I can't compare the articulation with the modern era figs from the DVD sets, which I was forced to open to combine the MASS Device. |

do me a favor, while you read this, turn around halfway in your chair. now, which part turned, your upper body or your waist? if you are of human design, you turned your upper body and your waist didn't move. now, which articulation do you think is the unnatural one, rotating at the wist or the hip?

Dusty/Pit Commando/Recondo doesn't count - they only swivel side-to-side.
