Hasbro could make one and have it on shelves for around $200, the catch would be how it is made. The main bridge/compartment area could be one solid peice of plastic with extras such as chairs that set inside it. Detail would have to be less then the orginal such as the beem that had the phone, ect would have to be flat while the phone and the other stuff would be on a sticker. The computers/controls would have to be molded into the main structure, but with stickers could have awesome detail.
The main thing would be the deck. Plastic crossbeams like the originals could be used to support a cardboard deck, as well as a cardboard lining. The lifeboat, crain, panel thingie on the deck could all be plastic and slide into the cardboard. The upside to this is with the correct kind of tape and covering the deck could fold up making the set smaller (okay not that small but still) and easier to ship and for kids to store.

Do a quick search about Walmart's toy aisle; they are reportedly shrinking their toy departments. This isn't HissTank rumor but stories coming from Walmart itself and being reported in journals. So, if they are shrinking their toy departments, why would they take their limited space and using it for huge toys? Kota was a failure - it was even half price at TRU! Target and TRU might sell something big, but the big toys lately aren't selling as well as the smaller ones. That doesn't mean Hasbro isn't making a profit; it only means the stores are having to hold stock far longer than they wish.

It's not the size but the quality of the toy that keeps it from selling. If they made a really good toy and it still cost about $150, people would buy it b/c it was still a good deal at $150 for an excellently made large vehicle or playset with real value to it, not cardboard cutouts.
Anyway, for a speculation thread shouldn't the title be updated to match? It's kinda misleading.. |

Price and quality go hand in hand.
Of course if it was a high quality Flagg at $150 it would sell. But there's no way to produce a high quality Flagg at $150. To get the price down to $150, ALOT of corners would have to be cut. And comparing a $150 toy to a PS3 and a Motorized Buggy... wow.... That just makes no sense. Different markets, different uses. A parent would be more willing to drop $150 on a PS3 then they would be on a toy.

That's because Animated was ended earlier than planned due to the new Hasbro/Discovery venture. Why? Cartoon Network had also worked on Animated, and thus Animated will not continue on the Hascovery Channel. If there is a TF series for that channel it's something different, Transformers Animated is done. Had Animated gone on longer we may have seen Omega Supreme at the same size class(Supreme) as Devastator, but not the same price(most likely $49.99 like that Roll out and Command Optimus which is also in the Supreme size class).

I'll tell you this, things/plans, can and have changed incredibly quick with regards to the G.I. Joe toylines and planning.

G.I. Joe Resolute Arctic Cobra Commander Revealed - GI Joe News That pretty much cover what's in the comic packs. The Arctic pack is almost complete, the only thing left is the TD. Everything else was released. The underwater pack is almost complete too, looking at the cobra surveillance port pics, except for the Tomahawk and Heavy Duty, and two well known cobra ships. TRvsSS pack is almost complete, from characters to vehicles, with the Flagg exception. It wouldn't be out of mind if they release them, maybe as exclusives. So basically, the evidence is: Hasbro still isn't making the larger scale vehicles and playsets from the comic-packs. Not that there's some overarching program to make everything from the comic packs. Especially when the comic packs aren't being made anymore, so by the time any of those larger scale items get made, any "cross promotion" from the comic packs would be null and void...particularly with folks who started collecting with RoC. Not saying there's no chance of seeing a Tomahawk or Moray or whatnot, but your comic-pack evidence is weak at best. Last edited by Jmacq1; 08-13-2009 at 11:16 AM.. |

And there's no way we're seeing a Flagg this year. It's far too late in the year to unveil something of that magnitude, and if it were coming, we'd have far more solid rumors of its' existence, if not leaked pics from overseas.

Of course, but 90 percent of the time that's in the direction of items getting cancelled abruptly.

I can't imagine something on the scale we're discussing here is going to be rushed through production in under a year.

Not to mention, Hasbro has the Moray mold, and may have the Tomahawk(the Night Raven was rumored for years to be lost in Brazil, last year confirmed to be intact in Hasbro's hands). |

Boo to Sticker "Accessories". I'd rather have no phone, and what not, to a sticker of one.
I still enjoy the irony of the Flagg mold being lost at sea. And now the idea that the Night Raven went down over Brazil. |

your looking more like a 250 to 300 dollar price range if this were to be released.. cost to make it and cost to package and ship wouldnt be cheap.

Hasbro may release a very small Flagg playset with just a command Tower though but I also don't see this coming for a long while too.
