Lucky you! I have been looking for some of those... going to two other Walmarts now to try and find em. I just got lucky and found a SGT Stone... who ever he is ... SGT Slaughter's replacement? If I ever get some free money I think I will start my investment in getting all my old Dreadnaughts and their vehicles back. I agree the new figures are better in some ways but the giant spring loaded weapons are rediculious.

This whole thing of ours is a sickness. A wonderful, wonderful sickness.
I'm 33 and have collected Transformers since 2002 and now I'm back into Joes for the first time since being a kid in the 80s. There is simply no hope for me or for most of us. Hell, I just spent $35 on a Resolute Snake Eyes just because I couldn't stand to wait. The shame... |

my name is travis, i'm 35 and my girlfriend just told me that she doesnt know if she can stay with me because she just found out that i have continued to buy Joes after I promised I wouldnt.
its fine for us to say that we have "problems" or "addictions" to these things but i'm afraid that i really do. I joined the Tank back in the fall. I was off work due to an on the job injury and was looking for something to pass the time during the endless days. Being on here and seeing all the collections got me interested in rebuilding mine. And build i did- i went crazy on ebay spending thousands i didnt have. got behind on my mortgage and other bills because i couldnt control myself. she came to my rescue and gave me some money to straighten things out. when she found out how much i had spent on joes she was so hurt and disappointed that she became physically ill. i promised her that i would stop buying. and i did for a little while, but then i had to have another surgery and once i was off work again the buying started all over. not as bad this time but still didnt have the money- we're trying to buy a house together and i'm trying to get her a ring by my birthday in november. so ive been posting stuff on ebay here and there trying to recoup some of my spendings and it hasnt been going as well as i had hoped. well tonight she saw that i had some feedback for recent purchases and it was a replay of all the hurt, anger & disappointment from before. I'm dont blame her- i knew i shouldnt be buying the stuff even as i was doing it, i knew what the consequences would be and it still didnt stop me. to make things even worse she tells me that she has been trying to find a Ted Williams Joe since she works at the Baseball Hall of Fame. She was going to give it to me as a birthday present. She hoped that it would be a bridge between my love of joes and her love of baseball. I didnt think it was possible to feel any lower than what i did but when she told me that I knew just how much of a problem i have. |

I hear you Travis. I myself got into deep credit card debt because of these damn things. Now, I'm taking out a loan to pay off those credit card debts. The key, I found, is in enjoying (all right, playing!) with the stuff I do have. I still get a new thing every now and then, but never because it's new or it's hot, but it's something that fits with what I have. If I have a craving for Joes, I now just pull out and enjoy what I have.
One other interesting thing I found in this addiction is that the pleasure is not in the figure (or vehicle or playset) itself but in the act of buying and procuring said figure. Once that passes, the object is stored or displayed and virtually forgotten because we want that high from getting something new. I know this is not true for everyone, or maybe it's just me. |

If it were me persoanlly I would dump the girl and keep the joes lol. Seriously ... they won't argue with you or talk back. They won't care if you forget their anniversery or birthday. They will always be there when you get home (unless some crazed Joe fan steals them). Your Joes won't ever know if you were playing with another Joe behind their back. They also won't refuse to let you play with them more than once a week. And the best part is that the Joe's accessories are much cooler than your girl's.
I also know exactly what you are refering to about the debt. I have ADHD and impulsive buying is at the top of the list of my malfunctions. Although this $100 is the first I have chunked down for Joes, I have racked up numerous credit card bills. And considering I won't have any income for the next four years of school these purchases were not the wisest. For me I completely agree with you about the high when getting stuff. I order loads of things from Amazon. The process of finding what I want, ordering it, waiting impatiently for it to arrive and then the christmas day experience of opening it! Then after the luster wears off it sits on a shelf and collects dust. There are very few books I have ever read from cover to cover. Same thing goes with this Joe stuff. I have been to literally 4-5 Walmarts, 2 Targets, and 2 Toys R Us stores in the past few days over 4 different cities. If my better sense doesn't kick in I will have a stack of figures in my hands heading for the door, which it didn't kick in the first trip out lol. Now I have had to tell myself to not buy but one common Joe at a time and seek only the rares. Now that I can't find any rares I have broke out my comic collection and have started shopping on Amazon for the next few Graphics Novels of the Classic Joe Comics line. Damn addictions! |

By the way if you feel like showing the ultimate gesture of faith and willingness to change to your girlfriend by giving away your collection, I would provide a very loving home for them!

Scene 1: Blackhawk Insertion Shot 1 - Blackhawk on the ground, Special Ops team is positioned in the Blackhawk to go down. Shot 2 - Special Ops team goes down, and sets a perimeter. Shot 3 - Blackhawk is gone, and Special Ops team is on its way to the objective. Scene 2: Interrogation of the Hostage Shot 1 - The Hostage is all alone in a dark room. Shot 2 - Lights go on, and a Cobra Officer steps in. Shot 3 - The Cobra Officer is in the motion of beating up the Hostage. I could go on, but I'm sure you get the idea. It's sort of like a kid playing with toys, but, 1) Since we are grownups, the stories are more complex, 2) I don't really make my figures move; I just set up the scene, take either a photographic image or even just a mental image, tweak the scene if it doesn't look good enough and take mental or photographic images again. At least, that's how I do it. I'm not sure about the others. |
