Destroyed the fandom? LMAO!! no it didnt destroy the fandom as you say. It SPLIT the fandom into different factions.
So now its between the Hardline Fanatics who prefer their precious 25th/Modern Era line without a single slight of adjustment to them against those who would welcome any type of change to the franchise who think the toys are cool an sometimes worth modifying to make it even better. Then you have those who think that anything outside ARAH is non existent cause they changed everything to those who enjoy the series for what they are an what they will always be G.I.JOE! I am not even going to bother bout the comics cause I rarely see any arguments over those. All I can say is thank GOD I am not a collector of the figures or anything or else I would have turned into a raving lunatic taking sides over a toy. I prefer the cartoons an I have watched all the versions of Joe from the Sunbow down to Sigma Six and while they have their ups an downs they never changed my loyalty to G.I.Joe period. I think thats the main question that should be asked: Where do your Loyalties lie? G.I.Joe as a whole entity (ARAH,DIC,VvsV,Spy,S6,Res,Roc) or G.I.Joe ARAH and Res only. Now that we are getting Resolute Snake in ROC packaging I'm happy. LOL. I don't need a separate line; as long as they keep putting in ARAH/Resolute surprises into the ROC stuff I'm good.

I said this IS HOW I FEEL. not everyone will feel that way. Yes i love Oring yes i love modern Oring figs as my custom medium . Yes i love the 25th for what it is. I love Res as it is a change that was just right for Joe. yes i Hate Roc. THESE ARE ALL MY OPINIONS. NOT YOURS . so your post makes me LMAO. as they are just Opinions . In this poll i asked a simple question about having 2 lines to make everyone happy. Then it turns in to a well you need to like Roc as you guys are outdated flaming war. How is that not destructive to the fandom???????????????? I just wanted to know if you wanted 2 lines. very simple question. as these our Opinions. not law. so why flame about it. we have enough treads about that. so thanks for confirming that there is a war between the fans. that is destroying the joe fans. |

Has someone been killed that I don't know about?
Because until that happens, not a single person (or fandom) has been "destroyed." If you don't think there were divisions in the Joe fandom long before the movie, you're kind of delusional. Fans were split on 12" vs. 3 3/4" (Unless you're such an RAH purist that you refuse to believe the old 12" fans exist), they were split on RaH vs. JvC/Spy Troops/VvV. They were split on JvC/Spy Troops/VvV vs. Sigma 6. A few were even split on Sigma 6 vs. the return to 25A. Now there's a split on 25A/ME/Resolute vs. RoC. And all along there's been segments of the fandom that don't really have a problem with ANY of it, up to and including Sgt. Savage and Extreme (the "red headed stepchildren" of the Joe brand). It's nothing new to this fandom, and nothing that this fandom hasn't survived already. Spare us the hysterics. PS: We don't need two lines, as along as Hasbro eventually starts packing more Resolute/Classic figures into whatever packaging they're using at the time. I'm not going to vote in the poll though. Not when the answers are loaded to reflect the OP's bias. You can have a "unified" line and still make both sets of fans happy. |

I just wanted to know if you wanted 2 lines. very simple question. as these our Opinions. not law. so why flame about it. we have enough treads about that. so thanks for confirming that there is a war between the fans. that is destroying the joe fans. Mid-2010, this poll would have been relevant. Right now? It's just flame bait (which did work) because at this point in time, no one knows what Hasbro's final plans are in regards to the RoC/Movie line and the Classic line. Right now, all this poll does is start a flame war and be destructive to the fandom. Mid-2010 Hasbro comes out and says "we're never going to do ARAH designs again" then a poll like this has relevance and people can be up in arms all they want over it, hell I'd be one of them as I don't think there's a reason not to do a Classic Joe line but not until Mid-2010 when the movie has died down and it's the lull period between movies. No one here wants the classic designs to disappear. What most of us is saying is that to just take the emotions out of it and think logically and follow Hasbro's track record. I mean seriously, end of the day, does it matter that Footloose came out in RoC-Design in the ME style before he came out in ARAH-Design in the ME style? Is it really that big a deal? (and if you answer yes, then you're of the attitude that Hasbro owes you ARAH-Designs). Hasbro's not stupid, not by anymeans. The simple fact that they extended the 25th/ME line beyond the planned anniversary box sets shows that they realized they had a decent money maker on their hands. It wasn't necessarily a retail cash cow, but it made decent money in the e-tailer market and some in the retailer market (RoC will make more for Hasbro, and probably already has, just because of the sheer amount of shelf space it has versus the 25th line, remember Hasbro makes their money when the retailers order product up front). So why on earth would they not go back to that "decent money maker" at some point in the future AFTER they got thru their already set up design/marketing/production plans for RoC? Remember, RoC was coming regardless of how well the 25th line did. So that means Hasbro had already had their design/marketing/production plans going ahead. It had been planned for awhile. So why would they change plans, when come Mid-2010 they could then return to the 25th/ME stuff? Whats destructive to the fandom is this attitude that it's wrong for people to like the new RoC designs over the original ARAH designs, or that for whatever reason the ARAH designs need to come first before a RoC design of that figure. What's destructive is calling other fans lemmings because they like something you don't. I'm going to laugh my ass off if at Joecon Hasbro unveils their plan for the return of the ARAH designs, which would be the perfect place to do so. All of this complaining/worrying/bitching/frustration/whatever you want to call it, it's just way to early for it. Be patient.

Actually, I'd rather all of Hasbro's resources be focused on ONE line, whatever it may be. Two very different versions of DUKE, DESTRO etc. on the shelves at the same time would harm both lines, I think.

At least it's a number, whereas you're making an assumption based on absolutely nothing.
