“Why are you not collecting the classified line?”
Why? Because I don’t want to. I’m an ‘80s kid and that’s what I’m going to stick with, 1/18th scale G.I. JOEs. I don’t need to collect (spend money) on something I don’t like. I have nothing against 6” figures. I have my share of Storm Collectables Street Fighter/Mortal Kombat figures, and as you know those aren’t $20 a pop. I don’t know about that. This is the first wave. Anyone that has been collecting long enough knows (normally) the first wave tends to over saturated the pegs. Which makes it harder to stock future waves.

Let's end this nonsense right now and do a side by side comparison of the most maligned Classified figure... Roadblock. I've circled the elements that are almost exactly the same (the green vest is obviously the same).
So what are the differences? Darker, textured pants, the infamous shin guards, a star on the vest, the gloves, no shirt, more subdued green vest, and a more advanced (and superior in my opinion head sculpt). This is nothing like that nonsense "Playful" posted. I really am astounded by the extreme over reaction to these designs. Last edited by TheSteelBrigade; 07-23-2022 at 12:00 PM.. |

1) Collectors of this line (more than any other I know of) will wait until things hit clearance prices before buying (especially vehicles) which makes stores unwilling to order future waves 2) Endless bitching and moaning if it isn't an exact carbon copy clone of something released between 1982 and 1987ish. In particular the latter. |

There are basically two reasons that Joe has not done well at stores the past decade:
1) Collectors of this line (more than any other I know of) will wait until things hit clearance prices before buying (especially vehicles) which makes stores unwilling to order future waves 2) Endless bitching and moaning if it isn't an exact carbon copy clone of something released between 1982 and 1987ish. Now here is Duke and Scarlett. Other than the shin armor, Duke is nearly identical to his original incarnation.
Scarlett is the most radical departure. Scarlett looks GREAT in comics, in animation, in art, etc, but there has never been a particularly great Scarlett action figure. Frankly, the original Scarlett is a terrible, ugly, action figure with an absolutely ridiculous superhero style outfit... yet no one complained. This new one is just as bonkers as the original with a really great sculpt. Vast improvement and the best Scarlett I've ever seen. Last edited by TheSteelBrigade; 07-23-2022 at 12:00 PM.. |

This thread asks the question, “Why are you not collecting the classified line?”, and forum members of this community have answered the question. What reason is there to, as you put it, “end this nonsense”? To what purpose do collectors need to be re-educated concerning their purchase decisions? Like any G.I. Joe product lines prior to this one, if collectors want to buy it, they will, and if they don’t want to buy it, they won’t. No re-education seminars are needed.

Personally I do not think that there is anything wrong with these 6” figures, I think they look great. But like I said previously, after 37+ years of collecting 1/18 scale Joes and a whole lot of vehicles that I love, I am not going to start a new Joe line. I understand 6” is the way to go these days and I do collect Overwatch and Attack On Titan Figma figures, but for me Joe is 1/18.

Whatever your reasons for not collecting the 6" line... fine... but don't try to blame it on the designs because based on the side by side comparisons, the difference are trivial. |
