I've actually given that a lot of thought, mostly in regards to what I've sold lately. It's always been SOP for me to give everything I sell a cleaning with alcohol as I'm packing/shipping, and I do the same with incoming, as my work experience has turned me into a bit of a germaphobe. However, it passes through so many hands on it's way that the packing materials themselves kinda negate any real benefit there.. I guess if I buy anything I'll have to treat it as I would raw chicken.

That being said, I clean all my incoming items anyway, given that many of them have probably never had a proper cleaning in the 35+ years they've been around. https://www.wired.com/story/how-long...t-on-surfaces/ https://www.npr.org/sections/health-...-to-clean-them |

As far as COVID-19, we generally should be pretty safe in buying/selling through eBay. Based on the articles below, the virus doesn't survive more than 3 days on most surfaces and only 1 day on cardboard. That's usually within normal transit time through the USPS.

I'll still be buying and selling of course, just perhaps a bit more conscientiously. And if THAT sounds like a paranoid outlook, you really would've laughed to hear my internal debate while buying produce yesterday. All those random hands squeezing all of those tomatoes with a death touch, searching for the perfect one... I still bought 'em! Last edited by Sataninjaku; 03-15-2020 at 10:50 PM.. |
