I once bought some used Playskool playsets for the kids at a school spring fair. One of the playsets had a yellow sheen that I thought was aged plastic or some sort of washy paint. Later at home, I discovered that the sheen was slightly tacky and had a distinctive odor, lol.

Took apart an APC I bought at a toy show to clean it. In between the inner and outer shells was a mint Storm shadow bow.

as far as cool is concerned, the 'chutes for my Skystriker were acquired this way. saw a "BIN" listed as near complete that included a complete Ace@ $35, and swooped it up, knowing there was no way in hell they were included. i was pleasantly surprised, as sure enough, there they were tightly bound up behind the seats. turned out the "near complete" was only a broken fin on one rocket!
i also collect vintage games/ consoles, and once picked up a copy of super ghouls n ghosts for 20ish (fair for a loose copy), and since it was a stock photo, i figured id be happy enough if it worked. it arrived not only in pristine condition, but also boxed with a manual, which i flipped for more than i spent. horrific? on the subject of old games and consoles, some of them are downright disgusting: spiders and bugs (living, dead, and eggs, lots of eggs), food (i hope), and even once a baggie of what i could only assume were some sort of drugs. in fact id be stoked if pubes were all i had to worry about when buying Nintendo stuff.

Cool find... I bought a Defiant and when cleaning it, Hardtop's gun fell out! I traded it for a complete Battle Wagon and Fort America.
Another cool find, I bought a Rolling Thunder from a local classified, while cleaning it a Falcon shotgun fell out. Lastly, not GI Joe, but Starcom... I found the Battle Crane for sale, bought it, opened the cargo container and it was chock full of figures, VISORS, guns, hoses, and backpacks! That was a sweet find.

When I was in Florida I learned that you should disassemble and thoroughly wash vintage vehicles after purchase... so many roaches and roach eggs. Yuck.
I used to work at a record store where we would purchase used movies, cds, and video games. I remember a kid and his mom trading in some GBA games and when I opened one of the cases to check condition the kid’s stash of condoms came flying out. He was about 15 or so and his mom definitely gave him the most severe “We’ll talk about this when we get home” face I’d ever seen.

Mom pocketed them.
People put a lot of weird shit in DVD cases. We found quite a bit of weed over the years, porn dvds hidden behind regular ones, and because we were near an army base with a lot of deployments, enough Iraqi sand to make my own gulf state.

I bought a HISS tank that was filthy. It was almost like they literally found it in the backyard after about ten years and mailed it to me. I've also got a bunch of crap from a mixed parts lot just to get one part that I needed.

To the showers you go, damn the electronics! Beyond that, probably the worst I've encountered is lingering cigarette odor on a very small handful of items.

Found the towrope for the wolverine inside the wolverine and the sticker sheet for the whirlwind in some blueprints.
The worst was some sort of putty on the APC wheels.
