Actaully, I know they can be modified. Historically spendthrift Lanard removed/ground out (since the mold is a negative) the cleavage on the Snake Bite mold. I don't think it would be difficult to modify at all, but there is some finality to doing so.

To get better QC, they'd need a bigger production run. That means walmart and/or taget need to be on hoard. So everyone here needs to buy 2 of each set at least before clearance.
So we'll have to to modify the packaging slightly to encourage that (one to open, one to keep MISB. I'm holding on tobthe dream...

I’ve had some QC issues with MTF before, but they are very standup about making things right.

I'd be so down for these updated 5 packs. I'm perfectly fine with the Resolute Scarlett body, but with better paint apps. I'm not a fan of the head either, but the paint scheme on that figure (especially the "gray" or whatever) was what's always bothered me; and I don't want to paint such an expensive figure.
I would like a lot of these figures to have better paint apps, which I guess I didn't realize would heavily contribute to the costs for Hasbro. Really the only thing that would entice me to buy the Cobra pack would be if CC were painted in the darker blue. I LOVED that Ultimate CC mold, but that blue was just too damn light. Oh, and I'm really not a fan of that POC Duke head. The Resolute Duke head is damn near perfect in my eyes, so I think it'd be better if they could use it. Even if they didn't I'd still buy and just swap the heads, but I think it'd entice people to purchase the 5 pack more if that head was in there. |

Hasbro still has time until the 40th Anniversary (2022?) to put out these 25th Redux Box sets with new figures/molds without any new body tooling (but maybe some new webgear or heads). So we're in 2020 and the six inch line has finally started--maybe (hopefully IMO) it will sustain and grow for the next few years (Star Wars Black Series started out slow)--but the 3.75" collector market should still be there, especially for special editions similar to the original 25th boxes.
These last few months I was finally convinced that a good Scarlett could be made from existing tooling, including the head. We just might need new tooling for webgear and a small chest mod for the securing placement of grenades. I still don't think the Resolute Scarlett unmodified is a good fit for this: body is definitely too big. The head is also too big, though the hair mold seems the right size. The head mold isn't as bad as many people think--its the misplaced eyebrows that make it look...not so pleasant, and that the head doesn't fit the hear mold. GiJoe_25th_BattlePack1-40thRedux_2020-0403ab by HissHissFangFang, on Flickr The figure is a repainted combo of Resolute Scarlett (lower arms), Renegades Lady Jaye (torso, head, upper arms) and Helix (legs). No body mods required, except for attaching the grenades near the upper left shoulder (glue works for my custom, larger production needs some sort of peg through). I think the figure is a big enough nod to the original design, but with the right amount of updated detailing (kneepads, padded vest, padded gloves and boots), much in line with what they did with the POC Snake Eyes shown above. I made two of these in different colors, one to keep in the display box as shown as a nice keepsake. Eventually I know I'll want to find another empty box on Ebay and throw the original figures in there. More on the Scarlett figure in this thread starting at post #143 (http://www.hisstank.com/forum/g-i-jo...ngfang-15.html). In the end, all 10 figures use existing tooling unmodified except Duke from the 50th Flint, where I cut down the height of his turtleneck for personal preference. And Hasbro, if you ever do these boxes yourselves, I'd still definitely buy them. Either 3.75" or 6.00". Heck, do both: good opportunity to do more 6" classic stylings and colors if not started by 2022... |

I think the 5 pack / single Scarlett looks fine. Probably in a minority there.
Comic Pack? Yellow ruins the figure. |

Hmmm... is that why Hasbro is starting with those exact 5 in the new line? A possible redo of the 25th Anniversary GI Joe Battle Pack?

Thanks Yeet. It was fun going back to this because the original 25th box releases, their unveilings, and finding them in stores--the whole experience such a major event in my life looking back--I don't think I ever got so exciting and involved in toy collecting prior. And no regrets. It's nice to put a nice bookmark here for this, even as these five are part of the first waves of the new 6" line, which will be interesting to compare, given the 13 years or so between. Wait the modern era began 13 years ago??? Can we still call these 3.75" modern, or have 6" officially claimed the modern title?? |
