I've tried to tell myself that these are movie figures...not worth it. Wait until they restart the modern line after the movie figures but after months of telling myself not to buy them, it's one thing to get a few figures that look cool.
Within the last week, we are seeing Hasbro now incorporating a lot of characters and vehicles that are probably not in the movie into this line. Now just seeing the upcoming releases (S.N.A.K.E. Armor) for ROC... ROC is no longer just movie figures, it's evolved past that. Granted, it feels like VvV again but better figures and accessories, incorporating a few things we enjoyed from the 25th/modern line and just literally a reboot. It's like VvV, DTC and Modern line merging into something cool and new. Its obvious Hasbro knew what they were doing...that those of us who were hardcore for the 25/modern line were going to be on the fence of probably not accepting the figures as anything but movie figures and so, what do they do...they start bringing things that we have been waiting in Modern and now incorporating into ROC. It seems like we see new pictures of upcoming releases each day and you wonder what Hasbro has up their sleeves for what's next. And as for talking myself not to buying ROC, and then saying maybe a few figures... just came back from TARGET and bought every figure (No sign of the Helix or Dr. line yet). I have not started on the vehicles just yet...but Lord help me... I hope the completionist behavior in me doesn't kick in. Achh! Side note: I know about the upcoming TRU sale for the figures but knowing that many of us who were not considering on buying the figures, now jumping on the bandwagon, I don't expect to find a lot of the figures on the pegs of my TRU but Heavy Duty's, Duke and Rip Cord. Side note 2: I reported that no one was buying the figures at my Target as of this past Saturday. Pegs on the aisle were now nearly empty and the ones on the end caps are now in the halfway mark. I guess we're all coming into it a little late... And for those GI Joe fans who were glad that troop builders and the hardcore collectors were not touching the line... I would imagine that with these new announcements, things have changed.

I've been saying this from the start. Hasbro did the same thing with the first Transformers movie. They have the obligatory movie figs, but sneak a few classics in to keep the old-school fans in. Hasbro aren't stupid, and they know the value of hedging their bets and keeping the fans that have been with them for 25+ years coming back for more when the kids have moved on.

Yup. I knew it was coming and I'm glad they're doing it. Hasbro is doing some creative things with it as well. The ROC has been great for 25th fans because of all the new stuff that's being tooled for us and the old stuff being retooled. Even if it's technically for the ROC stuff, it is for "us" the 25th collectors.

I'm loving the new colors and retooling of the old stuff.

I dont remember if it was one of the Q and A's or if it was a random report but Hasbro told us that they we're going to incorparate 25th/ME repaints and new classic characters into the movieline. Why is everyone so pleasently surprised that they are doing so? Is it because Hasbro tends to not keep their word or did that many people not know this already?

With the benefit that classic characters don't need to be redesigned to look like baby-eating bugbots to fit in with the movie line. \o/
