I don't think they are that bad. Walmart is stupid everywhere. They pay cheap idiots to run most of their stores. I'm being selective with them though.

It is correct, they dump this stuff off only once it is paid for. There is no way they could do it differnlty with this type of product as it can sit on shelves for years. It is also why the retialers clearance and then sell them off to Ross/Marhsalss/etc at a loss since it never sold and they are tyring to recoup thier costs on the original product order from Hasbro.

I think it's a shame hasblow is pooping on its' hardcore adult fan base by focusing all its' energy on a movie related line to try and appeal to a new generation of kids. Isn't it us, the 30+ year old parents who buy our kids (and ourselves) these toys? Wouldn't keeping us happy be the smartest move for sales, present and future? Is putting a secondary line of 25th/resolute figures out going to hurt movie sales? No! I'm sick of seeing hasbro use ideas and even molds that belong to another line in this movie stuff just to bait us into buying it. Well, I'm not doing it, I won't buy even 1 figure and I never had any plans on going to see the movie. So, there you have it, a child of the 80's who grew up loving joes, not going to the movie and not buying any of the merch. I guess hasbro really knew what they are doing with this one....
This is basically what your thread is

[QUOTE=Trip-weezy;863266]I am right there with you. I just feel duped. They reeled me in with all of the great 25th figures and acted like they were going to make more. Hasbro took all the momentum they had gained(and we all know the 25th line was getting better w/each wave) and squandered it for this movie line.
Perhaps in 5 to 10 years they can re-release the 80s line in a 5 inch scale and you can buy them again. Some of us, who have been buying Joes since 1982, want new stuff, and some of us, when we want vintage, buy toys that are older than 2007. Of course, as has been pointed out, for many toys it is only the packageing that has changed. I never liked the Wolverine, I guess I should have damned Hasbro back in 83. Kevin |

Squandered what? There's alot of people here that got back into Joe with the 25th line and are buying the same (if not more) of the RoC product (myself among them). How have they squandered anything if they are still selling product at good numbers, especially before the added sales of the movie and the kids next month. You're very wrong. That's not how retail works.

I'm could care less about file cards. You guys already know the characters, why do the file cards matter? They're pointless in my opinion. The new ones are good enough. I'm basically a kid and honestly I really don't read them. File cards don't make the figure, neither does the package. The Figure makes the Figure.
The figure sells the figure.

As i stated in my similar post, the price is the "big no" for me. I have not and will not buy any until they hit the super dirt cheap bargin bins. And yes, i have not been a fan of the marketing tactics of cafateria style minimizing and recycling that have been using ever since wave 2 or so of the 25th collection. At first i laughed it off as a jab from the old line. But then i realised that cheap cutting corners and giving just enough to keep on the hook tactics are being employed. Hell they even seem to encourage the balck market with the 1 in 3 variant stuff. Sure i kept biting, but now the food is changed colors and smell and i ain't going for it. Not until a pile of this crap is sitting in a big lots or ross, or until target liquidates everything for 60 percent off. Oh and don't give me the marketing 101 stuff, i understand the motives and reasons. Doesn't mean i gotta like them, and I'll stick to my guns until something changes my mind. I am glad they are trying, just the mentality of "me, me...and to hell with everyone else" permiates sooo many things these days. Just read any of the posts on here when they talk of minimum wage workers. the belief of only what i need to do, that ain't my job, or just plain selfish envey crap. No pride in your works, just cookie cutting. My point is art should be timeless, not for just profit sake. The new stuff and the method of creation seems well done to a point. It's like haveing a grand idea and halfway through you get bored and leave it to the gimp to finish. Sure he has all the tools and notes, but not the love. COBRA!

True that. I just hate the fact people use the file card complaint to bring down the figure. They're a cool extra to those who care. I just buy the action figures because they're awesome action figures. I'm really not so picky.

What I disagree with is the notion that some people have that Hasbro can just do whatever they want, whenever they want, with no repercussions from their customers (the retailers), and in defiance of business models that they've worked from for at least the last 10 years, for a line that may have performed better than expected these last couple years, but was still hardly an A-List brand compared to high-volume lines like Transformers and Star Wars.

You wouldn't be comparing ARAH Duke to Chaning Tatum, you'd be comparing ARAH Duke (cartoon, comic, figure, etc..) to RoC Duke (movie, figure, comic, etc..). There is no way to separate channing tatum from the "duke" character. He is immortalized on the screen forever. That statement just makes no sense whatsoever. Your statement made no sense to begin with, that's I pointed that out. And it's a flash in the pan film line how? You've seen the future? You know this for a fact? Come on, for real???? Do you really think this movie has a snowballs chance in hell of being great? If they can ruin such great stories as fantastic 4, hulk, superman, & you don't think they will destroy JOE????? 25th was a stagnant line, there's no growth, no new blood buying. Eventually (sooner rather then later) it would have dried up and died off. Wow, no you can see the future. My local Target has 5-6x times as many pegs and 3-4x as much shelf space for RoC then it ever did for 25th/ME stuff. How much shelf space does MOTU classics have smart guy? Quote:
It is a change, and most of the figures are really good and with trailer #5 (the new visual scenes) I am starting to accept it for what it is and i have been a die hard "h8er" for some time. It is just it's own universe and will be short lived as the rest since 1991and will be gone a few weeks after it's release and be one of those "bumps" in the long road of getting better.
The retailers do want this product as they feel it is just like Terminator (that sis not selling), Star Trek (which is not selling), Star Wars which sells even if there is no movie ever again), and Transfomers (which is not selling or they just pack the shelevs every single night till the shit fall sall over the floor in most stores). I agree the retailers make Hasbro thier money but the retailers ideals as to what product to carry and when are totally screwed up (all the other movie toy lines as stated for example). All of the toy lines take up display space and we are at the hands of the stupid retailers on when they restock or order more product. This is why I think Hasbro needs to re-try DTC with 25th/modern toys, comic packs and vehicles. They can also add Resolute to DTC and fine tune it for us collectors. Let retail suffer the consequnces of failed movie toys, but give us our redone and glorious Joes online. I would be 100% fine with that as long as they made enough throguh pre-order opportunities and conitnue evolving and creating newer dimensions beyond the single minded view of ROC. Just do not want ROC taking over every figure from now on. And that Walmart 2pk Monkeywrench is a HUGE pass, anyone even non-customers can kitbash a better one easily...
