The thrill of a toy run.
It is early morning as you look out the window at the dew that has gathered on your car in small clear beads. The air feels electric as you gather your cup of steaming coffee with each little ripple on the surface of the liquid undulating outwards from the center of your travel mug in a small but steady wave; the scent of your coffee wafting upwards filling your nose with that warm inviting smell that has been your friend on many such days like today. You check your cell phone to see how much time you still have but time fails you, in a rush of panic you realize that you must leave now. Quickly you dash to your car and turn the key. Your mind jumps from one thought to the next as you begin to feel the pains of distress set in, “I need to hurry before all the best stuff is gone” you think. Each traffic sign and light returns your feelings of dread to you, as if the very laws of reality are working against you. Finally you see your destination in view and thank God you are the first on the lot, you began to relax as the waves of panic subside. Reaching over to your familiar cup holder to grasp your steaming hot coffee you take a sip and finally relax. The doors will open soon and another day of toy runs will begin. I have been on many toy runs in the last week thanks to the ROC toy line. I have had great moments of joy and horrible moments of frustration. Each toy run was an adventure. I truly love the thrill of the toy run not matter how it turns out. So how about you? Do you love going on toy runs? or Do you hate the chase? Share your thoughts and stories from your own GI Joe toy runs here. Hugs Samantha

Great post.
I used to live for the thrill of the hunt. There was nothing more fun than walking in to a store and *BAM* finding new and exciting schwag to add to the collection. There have been many ZOMG! hunting moments for me. Now? I haven't hunted in the same capacity since gas prices were through the effin' roof last year. With the RoC line, I plan to pick up a few key pieces here & there, but nothing to merit an actual "run" to anywhere. If I'm in the area, and it's there...boom, I'll get it. If not, no harm, no foul. I love reading threads where people are so damn excited from their successful hunt that they have to run here and tell us about it. You can genuinely sense their excitement and gives you that antsy "Gotta go hunt now!" feeling. |

The best part of collecting for me is the thrill of the hunt and the excitement of finding that one item you have been looking for.

I get the same feelingI did when I would walk in to a toy store as a child an a new wave of figures was just released. That *GASP! ZOMGZOMGZOMG* feeling as you grabbed the first one you could get your little mitts on and IMMEDIATELY turned the card over to see who else came out. Nothing like shuffling through a bunch of j hooks to find that (insert figure here) hidden behind the umpteenth (insert figure here) that seem to plague every other store you've been to. |
