For me, Joe has always been about the vehicles, and even if they make vehicles in this line, it will be huge and expensive. I sat out the Marvel Legends, the Star Wars Black Series and now will be doing the same with the Joes.

I'm too balls deep into 4", and simply don't want to collect 6". It these were more aesthetically to my liking, I might have caved, but I don't really like them.

I am definitely a 1:18 scale guy. All my custom work is in that scale - all my fodder is in that scale. I don't want to have to have both. I tried the SW Black for a while but ended up purging them all. I bought SE and got him yesterday...LOVE HIM. But the reason I stopped getting Joe as a kid is it went to sci fi and no longer real military (or very near future at least) the 1:12 line is doing the same...I am a military fan and love the characters created in the Joeverse...but they need to be real military for me. I will cherry pick the 1:12 line so far only SE makes the cut. I would have to fix all the other Joes shown to be in my liking - which means more time and money invested than I care to do.

As I've posted several times before, I'm not a collector. I buy and customize for my kids and nephews. So consider my perspective as being that of a parent shopping for kids rather than a collector trying to fill a shelf...
I handed down a lot of vintage toys to the kids and I bought modern-era 1:18 for them for years. I'd like to be able to continue doing so. It's the scale they know and already have. It's compatible with vintage for the most part. It's easier to store. It's less expensive per item. It's the scale all of my fodder uses so I can customize something new for them. The only possible scale change they could talk me into is a 2" line (1:36) with figures that are articulated just like MegaConstrux. Not a MegaConstrux line, 'cause the vehicles get too fragile when they are made of Lego-style bricks, but vehicles and figures done well in that scale would be something I would support if the prices were reasonable and articulation is consistent and good. I absolutely will not support any larger scale than 1:18. Not gonna happen.

$20 per figure for a scale I don't collect is too much money. Also, like the world is on the brink of falling apart.

I was going to collect them, had pre-ordered Snake Eyes and was pretty excited for it. But then they showed off the other Joes and that just ruined it. Canceled my pre-order of Snake Eyes after seeing the rest. Although Destro looks amazing, almost enough to tempt me to collect the line.
But at the end of the day, for the last 30 odd years I've been a 3 3/4" collector. I'm sticking with one scale. I tried to do both with Star Wars and the Black Series (6 inch line) quickly fell flat with so many repacks and a lack of environmental pieces for the figures to interact with. A six inch line is only good for one thing, being statues on a shelf. There aren't many vehicles or playsets for them, so they're useless. Almost as bad as collecting funko pops. |

My collection is hundreds if not thousands of figures deep and all of it is 1/18. I have dozens of customs I have made to bring characters I like from lines in different scales into 1/18, including Marvel, various other Joe lines and other figures from the 70s and 80s. I don’t necessarily hate the designs (fuck those stupid guns though) but I can not start another collection in a different scale.
I will, however, but some for my son. He was never a dedicated action figure guy until the MCU based Marvel Legends came around and these will fit right in.
