You may want too pick up the SDCC missile command center set. It has a very good version of the Cobra Officer.

Welcome "back"! You may find, like I did, that getting back in can be a bit overwhelming. Just be careful, I started small and ended up with nearly every modern Joe from 25th on! Now I'm having to widdle down to what I truly love. Good luck and have fun!

I think I'll just keep watching eBay listings for cheap things to pop up (a 2008 HISS was listed last night for quite cheap) and add that way. I need to slow down a bit and take stock of what I have and how to display it or I'll end up with just another pile of MOC figures (like most of my MOTUC figures). |

I'd love to have this officer, but this set (even broken up) is very pricey or impossible to find.

Welcome! I started collecting modern era figures last Fall. It's really nice to have modern versions of the '80s figures to look at on the shelf. I hope Hasbro continues to produce them and fills out the characters we haven't gotten yet in modern era form.

Welcome back! Now just sign your soul away riiiiight here on this dotted line! Mwuahahaahahah.
Best advice I can give, aside from the cream of the crop approach (the only advantage of coming in late) is set some goals for yourself. You can always adjust those goals. If you’re going to troop build maybe set a fixed number for all troops. If you complete that goal them you can raise the bar. Otherwise you’ll spend the rent. I started out with 10 of each troop and 5 of each vehicle operator. If I ever complete that on top of everything else I’ll move on lol. Best of luck in your new collection.

It does suck trying to play catch-up. I started collecting is few years back but I missed almost the entire modem era. The worst part is knowing certain characters were only club exclusives and are now virtually unobtainable.
EBay is ok, but my advice is to join forums and Facebook groups that do BST. You can find great deals on large lots from people who are “getting out.” |

I've had some good luck with this forum, but not nearly as much as on eBay. I've never tried Facebook for this kind of thing before.

fwiw, I've done the vast majority of my purchases via eBay and out of somewhere north of 400 figures received, I've had actual issues with less than 5 of them.
Just to a wise buyer, check reviews, read descriptions carefully, study the photos, ask questions, etc, and you'll be fine. |
