I think what makes me laugh a little about the whole "OH NOEZ CAST MAGIC MISSILE!" Launcher debate are the following points that have been made:
1. "I don't want missiles launchers!" - Good, then throw them aside. The figures come with enough kibble to make both young & old demographics happy. 2. "This isn't MY G.I.Joe!" - Yeah, and guess what? 12" collectors said the same thing about us (ARAH fans) 3. "Missile Launchers killed the line to begin with!" - No. Do your homework. The list can go on & on. Bottom line - If some dinky missile launcher is going to make "little billy" want a Joe figure instead of BakuPokeBattleChinopokomon, then by all means. |

I'm not so much against the missile launchers, it's just that they are massive, not that fact that they shoot, they are just about the same size as the figurine or bigger.
Remember we had some cool vintage Joe vehicles with launching missles like the Badger, Baracuda, Destro's Dominator also, & they were cool vehicles, but yea it's not cool when the missle launcher is the same size or bigger then the figure though, haha. |

I have broken the original post up for better reading:
Quote:
I entitled this thread "Dear Hasbro" because I hope just one person that works there will read it and spread the word. I don’t know about the rest of you but I am very displeased with this ROC Toy line, it almost looks like Hasbro spent all their money making the movie and pinched pennies when making the ROC Figs and Veh's. The 25th line was awesome. I collected just about every GI Joe fig and vehicle made from 83-93 and loved every single one, that’s why I chose to collect the 25th with my son so he could enjoy them as much as I did.
I absolutely loved the detail that was put into the 25th and modern toy line. Hasbro also went as far too perfect better detail into the vehicles they released, they didn’t have to but they did and I feel that they all turned out pretty great. Sure with the figs they used a lot of bodies over and over but they made it work. So what happened with the ROC toy line, why are you cutting corner and skimping? I went out on the 3rd and found all the ROC figs on the pegs at Target and I grabbed at least one of each except for a few that I will name soon. They did not have the vehicles out yet but I managed to go to TRU on the 4th and found the rest of the figures that I wanted and picked up the Raven. Now here is my disappointment. One, I can do with out all the NERF pump action missile launching on the raven, don’t get me wrong, it's neat but you skimped on the detail, you skimped on the stickers, the sheer size of the vehicle and what the heck is up with the solid plastic landing gear? Where did the detail go Hasbro? We'll get back to that. So let’s skip to today when I picked up the APV Hummer at Target. No back seat?!! Come on!! And the flimsy plastic this vehicle is made of, what is that all about, and again you held back on the stickers. Why didn’t these vehicles have the kind of detail that the 25th and Modern have? The independent suspension (Awe Striker) (VAMP), the detailed parts and molding? And how about that landing gear? The Raven is sharp looking but feels and plays so cheap, the best part is the Pilot talking and he only says three things. Let’s move on to the PIT, which I will never buy unless it goes’s on clearance at a substantial mark down. What is that all about, why is it a vehicle to start with, the original GI Joe base wasn't a vehicle, why not just make the PIT into a stationary base that way it would not have to close up into a vehicle and you could have added more detail and better amenities. Let’s move onto the figs. Some I really liked and some I really hated. First Ripcord, Why Why Why didn’t you just make him Stalker for one or DOC, I am scared to see him in the movie, I just hope he does not ruin it, he is not that funny. Fine though, he's there but again why not makes him Stalker at least Stalker was a more noticeable character. Anyways the Ripcord figure looks silly, did you notice that when you molded him, his head was way too big for his body, same thing with accelerator Duke. And lets move on to Duke while I am at it. Never mind that his head is too big. Could you get someone to play the part that resembled the Blond hair blue eyed all American Boy from the comic/cartoon. Channing would not have been my first choice but I can live with him filling the part but why not a kind of Channing from stop loss when he actually looked like a member of the military, no, we got the scared faced, goatee wearing version, what's that all about? I think he should have cleaned up better. Let’s move on. Snake Eyes Paris Pursuit kicks ass, Snake Eyes regular is just creepy his face looks weird and his body looks more like he should be a He-Man figure. Baroness's face looks like Janice Dickenson when she was in her last week of I am a celebrity get me outta here, you did not do Sienna justice. Heavy Duty looks like he is wearing one earring and his head is odd. And the vipers just looked like no effort was put into them at all. Where are everyone’s accessories, I don’t want those big silly spring loaded guns, that just raised the price of the figures by a dollar, and speaking of prices, what the heck happened with that, we get less of a product for more cost? What the Heck? Why are the Armadillo, ATV, Mole Podd and Snow mobile $18 and the Figs $8 as apposed to the usual $7. The Rattler was probably the best vehicle you turned out thus far and it was only $25. Let’s get back to the figs. Where are the holsters and removable guns and knives? Don’t get me wrong, I loved some of the figs, even ones that I thought I would hate, Cobra Commander is cool, Masked Storm Shadow, Paris Pursuit SE, Ice Viper (minus having no detail on his face), Deep six (but I love all the divers), Cover Girl(is Ok), Sgt. Stone is cool, Destro rocks, and the rest that I picked up were ok but I still would like more detail and less silly trinkets like spring loaded cannons, its GI Joe not NERF, make it more realistic. I am just one man and it may not matter to you (Hasbro) but, I have been a huge fan for 28 years and joined the military because of GI JOE. I just hope that you get back to caring with the next batch. Thank you for your time. PS. All is forgiven if you remake th Killer Whale

I have said this before & I will say this again, I can not believe people are complaining about paying $8 for a figurine... we are paying $17.99 here in Australia, $14.99 on sale...!
If we could pay $8.00 per figurine here, WOW, we would be spending alot more on G.I. Joe figures & vehicles! Just to add on to this post too, realize you're the foreign market buying an American product though. In America some collectors love that Transformers Masterpiece line, it's technically a Japanese product. Grimlock in Japan cost a little bit shy of 60.00 in Japan, to get him over here he was 139.99. Also there's tons of Transformers KO sellers in China, their product goes for 25-30 in China, they sell it over here for 50-60 dollars. Everything is relative to your location. Not to mention Australia is a very large island, the method it gets to you (or Iceland), is very expensive to Hasbro and the retailer, they pass that cost onto you. The 7.99 I hate, but what really chaps my ass now is the new 9.75% CA sales tax. Last edited by Blaster'spunchingbagg; 07-07-2009 at 12:16 PM.. |

I take your point about us being the foreign market and believe me you're preaching to the choir about shipping costs.
But I think the point Gas.Man is trying to make is that us foreign Tankers AREN'T the ones complaining about price. Most of the price gripes have come from the domestic market and some of us are getting tired of hearing that broken record, no offence intended. If we could get joes for $8 US we'd be cheering but we're getting them for $12 - $15 US instead and you know what? we're still cheering 'cos at least we're getting joes |
