ROC is the first lot of Joes I have seen since 1994... Unreal isn't it, especially seeing Joe was HUGE here in the late 80's & 90's !

No offense but that letter clearly states that you're a hypocrite because you said some pretty bad things about the figres and yet you bought them :( .

Yeah Gas.Man I remember being able to buy them at the supermarket. I must admit, it almost brought a tear to my eye seeing a full half aisle of joes in Kmart. Beautiful site to see, just brought back happy memories and hope that we might actually get future waves. If nothing else, ROC has brought joes back to Oz

I have said this before & I will say this again, I can not believe people are complaining about paying $8 for a figurine... we are paying $17.99 here in Australia, $14.99 on sale...!
If we could pay $8.00 per figurine here, WOW, we would be spending alot more on G.I. Joe figures & vehicles! ON average a United States Citizen is lucky to make $50 Thousand USD a year, that is only $25 Thousand Pounds a year roughly. Can anyone in the UK live on 25K pounds a year? I'm asking cause I really don't know. I also don't know how it compares in Australia. But my guess is you guys make more money than we do comparatively.

Actually the US dollar is stronger than both the Australian dollar and the Euro. Currently US$1 buys A$1.30.
The average non professional australian salary is about $45,000 a year. |

QFT. I refused to read your rant / plea / whatever based on it being a wall of text. I don't see many others sympathizing with you based on that fact alone.

I didn't read it all. Couldn't.. walls of text make the eyes hurt.
Is it really that hard to hit "enter" now and then? I don't see how people can say the RoC figures are crap compared to the 25th. They are the same construction and in alot of cases, the SAME FIGURE JUST REPAINTED (Deep-Six, BBQ for example). So how can they be crap and the 25th be good? Lack of detail in the vehicles? Did you see the 25th HISS? That had no detail whatsoever. Hasbro goes and puts more detail in the VAMP, Armadillo, Skyhawk (GhostH.A.W.K.) and Water Moccasin (Sting Raider) but completely skimps out on the HISS and the MOBAT. And the RoC Armored Panther is the same thing as the Armadillo. I swear, some people see RoC and the ARAH goggles come out.

Zartanman, I hate to disagree with your analogy, but you can't compare prices in different countries based on the exchange rate. You have to look at purchasing power.
Here is what I mean. I live in Canada. My salary is paid in Canadian dollars. If I had to guess, an average Canadian probably takes in 50 000$Can (Maybe less) per year. The same as an American in your example, but in Canadian dollars. However, 25th figs have been 10$Can (8.50-9.00$US) from the start. That means that Canadians are paying more for their Joes than Americans because it costs us a higher proportion of what we earn to buy them. Unfortunately, this reality can be generalised to most consumer products. We pay more for gas, books, food, etc. For large companies, it makes sense to keep prices low in the US because of the large consumer base. Unfortunately, they make up the shortfall by charging more to the rest of the world. In essence, consumers in Canada, Australia, Europe and everywhere are subsidizing the consumers inside the US. It has been like that for a while now. So, no offense to anyone, but when someone starts a ''I'm tired of paying 8$ for a fig'' or ''Let's start a petition for Hasbro to lower prices'' thread, non-Americans just roll their eyes. Anyhow, I've strayed off the subject. To the original poster, I hear what your saying. (However, it would have been easier to hear, if you had used paragraphs. Big blocks of text are really hard to read.) I respect the fact that you bought some of the RoC figs before you passed judgement. Personally, I love most of these figures. I find the quality and value identical to 25th guys. OB |
