I gotta say that the new vehicles don't seem the same as vintage or 25th though, they seem 'Cheap' to me, as do the figures, well some of the figures anyway.
Just looks like Hasbro don't seem to be taking any care or interest anymore. |

"I didn't bother reading that mess, but I'm going to guess that it can easily be summed up as:
"ROC isn't 25A! WAAAAAAAAH!" Then why bother commenting on his post if you didnt even read it? Why is everyone on the Tank latlely pickin fights and callin names? Are you guys all 10? This thread is to Hasbro from disgruntled fans...if you are a GRUNTLED fan(is that a word?) then why click on the thread in the 1st place? Too many fans looking to argue... "TL;DR. Paragraphs are your friend." -again...this isnt high school English class...

Paragraphs make walls of text readable. Hence the comment.

I keep hearing the "Dear John" theme song playing in my head when I look in this thread.
"Dear Hasbro...By the time you reads these lines, I will be gone..."

Paragraphs are your friend." -again...this isnt high school English class... Also funny how people think we're not allowed to disagree with each other here anymore. Now that I've gone back and actually read the run-on-paragraph, I see that I was *gasp* EXACTLY RIGHT. Further, it's someone whining that because Hasbro didn't do exactly what they specifically want, they somehow "don't care." Nevermind that there seem to be plenty of people enjoying the RoC line just fine. But of course, their opinions are completely invalid, right? Then they go on to blame Hasbro for decisions they don't get to make (For instance: Paramount studios cast the movie, not Hasbro). Complaining to Hasbro about Channing Tatum or Marlon Wayans is barking up the entirely wrong tree (not to mention utterly and completely futile since the movie is completed). Hasbro makes toys based on the designs the movie folks made. They didn't get final casting approval, and while they had some input in the designs, they don't get to choose the overall "look." That's what happens when you license your property to someone else to make a movie. The fact of the matter is that the RoC figures are exactly on-par with the 25th Anniversary figures in terms of detail, durability, articulation, accessories, and paint apps, and may even exceed them in some of those areas. That doesn't mean that they're perfect or that anyone has to like the designs, but the problems the ROC line has were experienced by the "sacred" 25th Anniversary line, as well. I've bought two vehicles so far (Cobra Gunship and Rockslide ATV) and despite people complaining to the contrary, they're quality pieces. Sure, maybe they don't have as much kibble sculpted onto it like the old MOBAT, but they're sturdy, streamlined vehicles with non-intrusive action features and great playability. Further, it's entirely possible they accurately reflect the designs used in the movie (which means the "lack of detail" is once again a reflection of the movie designs...not Hasbro's fault). Sure, they don't come with quite as many stickers as some of the old vehicles, but I dunno, maybe I don't get as much of a charge out of putting 200 microscopic "not a step" stickers onto surfaces not designed to hold a sticker as some other people do. I tend to find it a bit of a pain in the ass, myself. Last edited by Jmacq1; 07-07-2009 at 07:46 AM.. |

Interesting read TRPR5566. I understand your gripes about the lack of detailing and relative cheapness factor. But I am a somewhat 'gruntled' fan. At the end of the day they're still joes and I'll keep buying them just so they continue making more.
It's kind of a catch 22. On the one hand if we all stop buying them because they're too cheap looking or not detailed enough or too pricey then Hasbro will just stop the line like they did in 1994. And on the other, by purchasing them despite the cheap plastic, the lack of detail and the price, (believe me, I can assure you ALL the international tankers would happily pay your domestic prices). Hasbro can keep doing what they're doing. Out here in Australia we didn't get anything between Battle Corps and Spy Troops and we didn't even get 25th. Despite all the negatives ROC has at least given us joe product for the first time since 2004. At the end of the day it comes down to personal choice and despite all the negatives, I'd rather have joes on the shelves than nothing at all. |
