We're "those guys" to the younger crowd, but probably because Joe fandom is so low. The younger guys I work with all love when I show them new Star Wars, Marvel and DC stuff, but G.I. Joe, even Alien and Predator stuff, they just don't "get", because, unlike TMNT and Transformers, it didn't ride the nostalgia wave successfully.
But as far as personal "shelf life" goes, I don't see it expiring. A carded 1984 Firefly or Storm Shadow, or an Alley Viper or Crystal Ball or Jinx, still rekindles the same feelings they did 3 decades ago, as does reading a certain issue of Joe or Daredevil, watching Die Hard or Bloodsport, or playing Final Fight or Street Fighter 2. Those were very formative years, and as much as I like new comics, or the Deadpool or MCU movies, or the new Star Wars stuff, it won't have the same effect on me in 3 more decades (I'd wager). |

I think as long as there are people who love A Real American Hero, it will last. I know many collectors who are in their 60s and 70s who still collect things from their childhood( 1950s and 1960s ). I never thought I would still be into Joes in my 40s; but I am. Although, I’ll admit with lack of product I’m not as invested as I used to be. I still think we need a line of 6” G.I. Joe Legends to reinvigorate interest in Joe. And it would capture the interest of Marvel Legends and Star Wars The Black Series collectors as well. Many hate this idea, but honestly as much as I love 3 3/4” joes, there’s not much left they can do.

Yes, because of the detail you can put into a 6” figure. I have several friends who do not collect Joes at all that said they would buy 6” Joes.

I think that GI Joe should have both a 6inch and 3.75 inch line like Star Wars and Marvel. That way people can have affordable vehicles and figures at a scale that fits in with their older Joes, as well as start a 6inch line for those who want more detail/articulation.

I was a pre-teen when ARAH made it's debut back in '82, and have been a fan ever since. I do think that ARAH nostalgia is still strong - even in 2020 (and hopefully for a long time to come).
I know I'm really looking forward to the forthcoming 6" line - and do hope that they expand this to include not only a lot of figures, but at least some to-scale vehicles as well. And, I would also like to see a new line of revised ARAH-related 3.75" figures/vehicle, similar to the 25th anniversary line - which produced a lot of incredible updates to both figures & vehicles. Since 2022 will be the 40th anniversary of the ARAH line, I'm hoping we'll see something like this - sooner rather than later. Quote:
