Even though the USS Flagg is the holy grail and I wanted one as a kid, but never got it. (I'm sure most of us was in the situation)
Personally, I'd rather see an updated GI Joe Headquarters and Cobra Terrordrome that could be used with ARAH Joes and 25th up versions. OR an actual base for the Dreaknoks. I know they hide out in the swamp, but I'm sure they have base of some sorts in there. Nothing against the Flagg but I have no space for a 7ft playset in my home. It would stay in a box and rarely come out...if any! |

I would pay upto 500 for a remake. There are enough people out there that would make it worth hasbro's time to make it. IMHO

No vehicles or playsets for me, generally. Space constraints are real for most of us that are now adults with families. If HasLabs did a set of ARAH figures we don't have yet for modern era, I'd be in for that.

Frankly I prefer something a bit more manageable. Both in terms of being possible to happen and term of size.
Look I love the FLAGG, I mean it is kinda the HOLY S piece of the line. The pinnacle of Joe at its height but I've had one for a long time and frankly it has three drawbacks. - Parts issues. Getting one, or parting one to make it complete is often improbable. So unless you were lucky to nail one and keep it complete since 86 or spend inordinate amounts of time and cash...its kinda rough. - Flimsy ness. The deck...is a solid item...hell you could kill a man with it. But the plastic quality of the rest is pretty bad. And the bulk of the boat...aside from deck bow stern and tower is a skeleton. - Space. Last and not least space...I've owned a FLAGG for well over a decade and have assembled it...three times. There is just no space to have it assembled on a permanently or even temporary. It sits in boxes in a room. PERSONALLY if Haslab is gonna take a wack at a Joe project I prefer a revamped WHALE. The WHALE also was notoriously riddled with weak plastic so an update would be nice. Probably more affordable...more practical for fans to display or store annnnnnd could even be reused for the Night Force Night Striker. or even the never released Sea Wolf. |

IF Hasbro did this, I would be in at $500 or less, but I just can’t see paying more than that for a single item. And a lot of the flaws and weak points of the original would have to be addressed. I do think some new design elements could help as well - like maybe make it modular and collapsible to win over those with limited space issues. Like the tower structure would be easy to remove and the main deck could fold over in half or thirds to be stowed in a closet? That way it could come out and be quickly assembled for use and be broken down and put away just as easily.
As a kid, my neighbor a few houses down the road had one (his dad was a doctor and my pediatrician), and when he got older it was given to my younger cousins that lived farther up the road, and the only place it could be used was in the attic. And while I was got to play with it a few times, my memories of it aren’t so vivid, so I don’t really have any memories of things I personally found at fault with it. I was impressed by it, though. I think with Hasbro’s gun-shy willingness to fully support the Joe line lately, it might be better for them to attempt a smaller, equally iconic vehicle. The aforementioned Killer WHALE would be an excellent candidate, with all the fragility issues addressed - notably the fan shrouds, steering vanes, missile rack arms and windows. Maybe even up-scaled to transport something like the VAMP MkII? That would be pretty sweet. Throw in a few repaints of the Navy Collectors Club Joe figures that weren’t available at retail.

It's funny to see this resurrected. As the one who started the thread, I've actually changed my tune... because I finally got a Flagg in my collection and it's on display.
I've decided I'd rather a Defiant now, since it seems far more difficult to find in decent shape. |

Heck, vintage styled with improvements, Resolute version, hybrid, whatever. If Hasbro makes a Flagg that's at least 4' long or bigger (hopefully as long as the original) I'm in. And yes I did back the barge.
