Reviving an old thread because I am thinking about taking the plunge into collecting Joe again. I am a bit overwhelmed with all the new acronyms.
Your post helped a lot but I still have a few questions. Are the "ultimate" versions beginning with the 30th versions actually 4"? What is POC? I've been looking on eBay and these are no longer reasonably priced. I've been eyeing that SE/SS two pack and sellers are asking upwards of $50 for that. Some of the newer figures are a little taller than the early 25th anniversary, but they're pretty much the same scale. Don't worry about it. PoC is short for the Pursuit of Cobra line. I started collecting a few years ago, and prices were already inflated then. Since then, they've gone through the roof. I'd suggest that you post a thread in the buy/sell/trade section, as people here often offer better deals than on eBay. Facebook groups are also a good alternative. |

Here is the order of release of figures along with their abbreviations. These are for figures released from 2007 and on, which is called the Modern Era (ME)
25th Anniversary (25th) Resolute (Res) Rise of Cobra (ROC) Pursuit of Cobra (POC) 30th Anniversary (30th) Renegades (Ren) Retaliation (Ret) 50th Anniversary (50th) There were 2 waves of figures released at Dollar General (DG, DG W1, DG W2) There were 4 figure and vehicles that were part of the ROC line that never made it to full retail, but later showed up at The discount store call Ross (Ross) There were many exclusive figures too. These are the abbreviations associated with how or who released those figures: Figures released directly from the GI Joe Collectors Club (GIJCC) or (Club) Figures released at a GIJCC Convention (Joecon) Figures released at San Diego Comic Convention (SDCC) Figures released as part of the GIJCC Figure Subscription Service (FSS). Please note there were 8 releases of FSS figures. They are classified as (FSS 1.0, FSS 2.0, ...) The GIJCC closed in 2019, but released 12 final figures (Final 12) I hope this helps. At the time of this post, the Final 12 are still available to buy. If you never have been a club member, you will need to ask a former member to purchase them for you. Just start a Buy/Sell/Trade (BST) thread listing your wants on here, and I'm sure someone can help you out on here.

Thank you for the definitive post 46 Zone. That was what I needed.
I had a ton of vintage from the 80s and 90s but sold them all some time in the early to mid 2000s as I got older. I find myself liking the way the 25th Anniversary figures look. While I am happy they made live action GI JOE movies, I don't dig the look of some of the characters. |
