Let’s keep in mind that the Flagg was a couple feet longer than this Sail Barge- which is lovely btw. I’m guessing that if this 4’ item is 500 we’d be talking 750 for a 6’ Flagg. I am going to try and scrounge up the cash fo this. Hopefully more will come if this goes through. I’m sceptical that this will include Joe items but if I’m willing to drop 500 on a SW toy you can bet your vintage collection I’ll go higher for Joe. Hasbro, I’m down for a 800 dollar Flagg, they got for 1200 on eBay anyway, but would be grateful for a Terror Drome, Moray, or Whale.

I think a larger, more tricked-out version of the classic G.I. Joe HQ would be the way to go for a debut Joe release. There'd be room to keep the cost reasonable on that. And to me that design is 100% more iconic than the Flagg and arguably even more than the Terror Drome. The Flagg was kind of a novelty piece but the HQ is just unmistakably a G.I. Joe creation.

Also bear in mind, when thinking of what item to crowdfund, that many collectors don't have or wouldn't want to make room for a massive playset or vehicle.

I do believe this thread goes a long way to answering the question whether or not Hasbro would--or should--try a crowd-funded huge Joe item. So far, everyone has different ideas/realities of what they're willing to pay, what they have room for & even what they want. I mean, hell, in this thread alone we've run the gamut from gigantic playsets to moderate-sized vehicles to figure waves and lone deluxe figures. I'd say, based on this alone and past experience, Hasbro probably shouldn't even try a $500-$1000 item for G.I. Joe until they've established a market for it.
As I said earlier, probably best to start small-ish with a mid-sized vehicle people appear to want. If I were them, I'd begin with a reissue of an iconic item they already have molds for to reduce cost/increase chances of it actually coming to fruition (Moray, maybe; Tomahawk; 2-seat Sky Striker; ROCC; Rhino) and then go from there with new creations (Coyote, Whale, Cobra Transport chopper/plane) steadily building a base for larger, more costly items. |

The W.H.A.L.E. is another great choice for a debut release. It's definitely one of the most popular Joe vehicles, second only to the Flagg in this poll.
http://www.hisstank.com/forum/g-i-jo...ll-time-2.html I'm just afraid G.I. Joe will remain "on hold for retooling" for HasLab just as it is for anywhere else. They seem to be heading towards letting the movie reinvent the line and also want to play the market-starving game to create pent-up demand for when the movie product comes out. |

I agree. The HQ would be a better start, but not just a remake, slightly modified or modernized one. I'd like them to make something we haven't quite seen before. Maybe add a second level. Create some of the rooms reminiscent of the early motor pool Pit from the comics. Maybe a Cobra HQ or Destro castle could follow that.

Definitely. As much as I would approve of the idea, I don't have enough room in my 600-square-foot apartment for a giant vehicle like a sail barge or a USS Flagg. I would be down for something smaller like a Coyote, though.

If you look closer, Hasbro is targeting the collector market of people who played with vintage SW toys, they are adults now and they can afford that piece. Star Wars toys were never modernized and today's figures are 100% compatible with the vintage ones. G.I. Joe fanbase is split in those who want modern compatible and those who want vintage compatible. IMHO any project that excludes one of the fan bases is condemned to failure.

I'd jump in for a redone Crusader, an F-35 based jet or an Osprey/Halo Falcon-type vehicle.
