My collection is just starting up and I want to have a two pronged focus 1) Best/Very good ARAH simulacrums of the 25th and up and 2) Best New Sculpt Era 4 inchers (ARAH or not, non T-crotch). How can I differentiate between the 3.75 and 4 inchers in the New Sculpt Era? Based on reading some old Joe sites, this seemed to have been a thing.
Also, can you recommend the best 4 inchers out there? These will be primarily for beater playthings while the 25th and up ARAH simulacrums will not. Yo Joe! |

Honestly, the height and proportions of New Sculpt-era figures were all over the place. Most of them are on average at least a touch larger than vintage figures, although the majority of them were "close enough" to vintage figures to not stick out too much. There were a few outliers like Cross-Hair which were closer to 4'', but they were generally in the minority. I don't think there are any obvious ways to tell which end of the scale a figure leans towards apart from having one in-hand and comparing it to other figures. Are you specifically looking for the taller ones? If so, then I know folks can recommend some specific ones.
As far as 4'' play figures go? Hard to beat The Corps for that. Best-in-class articulation for the price point, and fun sculpt designs (though they are a little on the exaggerated side of the spectrum).

Oh, I am all over The Corps. That is one reason I am looking for 4 inch New Sculpt Joes (the taller ones).
Cheers! |
