Even though Hot Toys released their Joe Colton figure in 2013, I only got around to buying him last month, but he's captured my imagination in a big way, so I thought I'd spotlight him in a thread of his own. Adventure—noun—An Unusual and Exciting, Typically Hazardous Experience or Activity by Monte Williams, on Flickr Hickman's H.O.U.N.D. by Monte Williams, on Flickr His Face—Dour, Frowning—Was That of a Man Who Hasn't Seen Anything Good in Years by Monte Williams, on Flickr Men of God and Men of War Have Strange Affinities by Monte Williams, on Flickr Where's Tunnel Rat When You Need Him? by Monte Williams, on Flickr I Have Seldom In My Life Known Loneliness, Even When I Was Most Solitary by Monte Williams, on Flickr I sold all my G.I. Joe toys a couple-few years ago, so this was a fun and unique way for me to explore my all-time favorite toy series again. (I nearly bought a Sideshow Major Bludd, instead, but the horror stories about the quality control issues scared me away). My toy budget cannot easily accommodate Hot Toys and other high-end products, but considering the sad fact that G.I. Joe's retail presence is essentially nonexistent, now is a good time to save up funds for such a purchase. Plus, since Retaliation had minimal lasting pop cultural appeal, ol' Colton hasn't shot up in value the way Hot Toys figures do from more popular franchises like Marvel or Star Wars. He tends to go for the price of any new Hot Toys figure, but you can get him even cheaper if you're patient; I only ("only") paid $160 shipped for mine! I'm not a tireless Die Hard fan like so many toy collectors, but obviously the figure is also viable as the base for John McClane customs, although there are plenty of Bruce Willis head casts for sale if that's your goal. Whatever the case, I am glad I bought this figure, and I'm still tempted by Major Bludd despite his QC issues, and I really want some vintage Adventure Team vehicles to use as background props for future Joe Colton portraits, but I'll probably restrain myself. Finally, I'd like to share Michael Crawford's review from 2013, which I read and studied multiple times before finally committing to purchasing the figure: http://www.mwctoys.com/REVIEW_110813a.htm My favorite insight from the review: "What I love about Hot Toys figures is that they are still toys. Very expensive, very high quality, very artistic toys, but toys nonetheless. They haven't lost sight of their roots, and you can see the DNA of the original 1960's G.I. Joe figure in this version of Joe Colton." Please share your photos and/or impressions of Hot Toys Joe Colton! New Photos: Note: There are additional photos throughout the thread of Nick Fury and other Hot Toys figures, plus several of Joe's robot companion, a giant World War Robot weirdo from ThreeA, but I will continue updating this first post to include all the portraits I've captured of Joe Colton. Those are some really amazing shots. Though if it were me, I'd have him wearing a wife-beater and take pictures of him in my air ducts.

He's my favorite of the few I've owned (and the two additional figures I got to photograph). Doctor Strange is technically a superior figure on pretty much every level, but Joe has captured my imagination more.
