Just wondering if Hasbro has ever made it officially known which 25 figures they HAD planned to release before the line exploded?
Seems like they were keeping it rather secretive... |

I haven't seen a list, but originally it was only going to be the 10 we got from the first two 5 packs. Then it got expanded to 25 figures, then a whole line

With the rumor of Wave 10 and even 11 out there, how many Waves of carded figs do you think we'll see?

Presumably it was the figures from the first two five packs and then the first three wave of singles, with someone else (probably the Air Trooper) instead of the doubled up Cobra Trooper.

I can't see Buzzer making it into the top 25 Joes.

I don't see Red Ninja being in there either...
I have a hunch that it would mostly have been figures that we have seen with new/different molds, or with easy mods. (i.e. firefly/beachhead. Very similar, but there is a different cavity in the mold being utilized...) |

1. He was a dreadnok, and Zartan needs minions 2. He was the only classic Dreadnok not to see release in the modern line 3. He got fairly substantial play in early issues of the comic. 4. Of all the Classic Dreadnoks, his design aged the best.

So you'd want Buzzer instead of the Crimson Guard figure or Bludd for that matter? Or just Buzzer and none of the other Dreadnoks... Having a lone Dreadnok release would've been very frustrating had the line died with the first three wave assortments.
Honestly, I think Hasbro just said 25 figures so they had no further commitment should the line have failed miserably. Since things took off as planned, however, they got more creative with the case releases and pushed certain molds up on the release because they were available for immediate production. Now could Buzzer and the other Dreadnoks have been on the original 25 figure list... maybe, but when you consider that half or more of that number was dedicated to Joes. You're left with 12 [rounding down] Cobras. Cobra Commander Cobra Commander v2 Storm Shadow Destro Baroness Trooper Officer Zartan Firefly Serpentor That's ten already... I would almost swear to the Air Trooper being on that original list because he's a cheap rework of a generic mold. I would hate to think I lost out on Bludd or the Guardsman because Buzzer took a top slot and the other was decided on a coin toss. |
