I just got a fixed crotch Beachhead today and I noticed something strange on his lower legs. There are letters and numbers on them. On outside part of the left lower leg there is a L1, and on the outside part of the right lower leg there is a R2. I also noticed this on some pics of Friefly as well from cooltoyreview.com since he is of the same mold.
There are pics on the site showings these letters and numbers on both the diaper and fixed crotch versions of these figures. Here is a link to a pic of the R1 on Beachhead's lower right leg... http://www.cooltoyreview.com/photo.a...oe25th-548.jpg Here is a link to a pic of the R1 on Firefly's lower right leg... http://www.cooltoyreview.com/photo.a...y-holster2.jpg Look at the rest of the picks there and you can see the L1 of the lower left legs as well. Were all the Beachhead and Firefly figures made this way? Do all of yours have these letters and numbers on them. Why did Hasbro leave those letters and numbers in the mold? If they needed them there for the people who put the figures together to figure out which side is which, why didn't they sand them down before painting them? Sorry I have alot of questions. Hoping someone has some answers. |

Yup, mine have the same markings on them.
And they were probably used, as you said, to know which piece goes where. Don't know why they left it, though. Maybe it's just easier to leave it alone than try to sand it off.

I've also seen them on the arms of other figures. My Legions blueshirt has them on his upper and lower arms. Oddly enough though is that the markings are different:

I think all figures have them. I rarely notice them. It doesn't bother me that the originals had made in china on their butt, neither does this

Yep! they're trying to make Dump Proof Error. However, many have reported 2 left arms for a figure or vice versa. Still is not a "Dump Proof"

I guess what really bothers me now about these letter and number stamps on the new 25th figures is the fact that they are on visibly noticeable areas. On the original figures they were a bit more inconspicuous being on their butts or inner thigh, but that's just my opinion. |
