I just know I really, really want to complete the '80s figures in Modern form via officially licensed Hasbro products, so I don't have to buy o-ring figures to finish those years.
I sure hope Hasbro has plans to continue to put out yearly (or more often) individual or small packs, even if it's under the 50th Anniversary line with their disappointing bio cards, to help us complete what's still missing after the Club ends. It really is a shame they left so many '80s figures undone, especially once they knew they'd only have two series left (7 & 8). 26 figures would have pretty much wrapped up the '80s completely. Instead we seem to get mostly '90s+ era figures, foreign figures, and repaints/rehashes of existing parts cobbled together. Sad. That would also be acceptable if they are identical to Modern era figures, including the stands and ARAH-style bio cards, etc. And yeah, price-wise it should be no problem, these figures are already way expensive via the Club and JoeCon. A 3P with access to the same factory and molds could probably do just about any character with a $50/figure pricepoint. Last edited by edgecrusher; 12-04-2017 at 02:03 AM.. |

not much to do except wait for the new Joe 'universe' to start and hope it's profitable enough to warrant at least a couple movies and the accompanying toy lines. I just can't see G.I. joe becoming popular again in today's climate. Military stuff just isn't 'cool' anymore like it was in the 80's, but who knows, maybe it will be a hit, only time will tell. I just hope they don't try to get all realistic on us with the styling. RoC went for a much more realistic style (with the Joes anyways) and everything was just blue cammo and black body suits. No pizzaz what-so-ever, super boring. I need my joes to pop with some color, and maybe be accompanied by a ridiculous and exotic pet of some sort.

why does the club have to go away. the only thing they have going for them is access to hasbro's molds. we have seen that smaller parties have put on successful joe con with nothing but some elbow grease and cool kitbashed exclusives.
i emailed them once, and of course never got a reply back which is usually how my emails go with them, and asked when the "official" club goes away will they become the "unofficial" gi joe collectors club. a simple title change is all thats needed to keep doing what they are doing. should they put out a con they really dont need to do vehicle exclusives since all of those would be kitbashed and time consuming for them. this saves time money and hassel for everyone. if they really wanted to milk the fans make 100 of one vehicle and put a big price tage on it. other then that make a small set of figures. i'm sure you could get some of the great fan custom designers out there to help if you promised them a free set. there are many ways they can make it work and still be the big go to one. but honestly for me the only reason i get some of their figures and vehicles is they are "officially" hasbro items. can be considered in cannon of the hasbro universe and not just something some dude made and i bought. the price point on their items hurts, i know why its that way but its nothing i cant make myself or do better for a 1/3rd the price. |

I imagine Hasbro has plans to create some sort of direct to consumer service for GIJoe, similar to how Mattel did with MotU and Ghostbusters, or at least continue the line as some sort of retail exclusive. My money is on the DtC option, as that would ultimately be cheaper and more profitable. I can see it now, yearly subscription fees to get exclusive membership releases, and quarterly releases of figure packs or small waves of singles...or, maybe they'll just sit on GIJoe until the next movie drops and save themselves the trouble. But it does seem odd to kill the club if they aren't planning SOMETHING.

No subscription, you just ordered them from Hasbro's online store as you pleased. I just feel like Hasbro might consider offering a subscription so they can milk more money by offering subscription exclusives or earlier access like Matty Collector did. Regardless, I still think a DTC option is most likely, however they decide to organize it.
