I just noticed Hasbro had released weapons and accessory packs for vintage figures from back in the day. I am unsure how I never seen these until today.
I knew about the motorized packs, but not weapons and accessories pack. When did they stop doing this and was it only a one shot? This would be sweet if they had released a weapons/accessories pack from any of the 25th and up lines. I know they are working with a tight budget, but this would be cheaper than releasing a figure. So many things they could capitalize on without breaking the bank.

I miss those accessory packs. It was the coolest idea they ever came up with.

Yeah it sucks. Probably closest we got to that again was with the Cobra Night Landing footlocker weapons cache for the 50th or Joecon versions.

They released 6 different - 4 GIJoe and 2 Cobra - Battle Gear packs between 1983 and 1988. They were really cool and I would definitely buy some if they ever came back.

Hasbro could just release a pack of the helmet and rifle from DG Duke and get all my money... maybe throw some Flint backpacks in there.

Yeah I remember how flooded the market was with the vehicle accessory packs that came out in the mid-to-late eighties. I must have bought at least a half a dozen or so on clearance somewhere when I was a kid. I had tons of the gray Tomahawk and triple T missiles.
I would be totally down with Hasbro minimizing the accessories that are included with figures to sell them separately.

That vehicle accessory pack was probably one of he poorest selling 80's Joe items. I seem to recall them being around for years.
I don't think accessory packs would do well in today's market. You'd have to include a figure, which almost defeats the point. I remember some BBI (?) accessory packs from their short lived kid-aimed Target military line, they were clearance out. And the Star Wars episode 1 accessory packs bombed. But then both of those toy lines were heavily clearance. |

I definitely remember seeing those vehicle packs on clearance for less than a dollar.
It seems to me that the earlier, more realistic BBI accessory packs sold much better than the later ones, and those SW Ep 1 packs were more of a problem because they were just really lame. There were some much harder to find ones that were a little better, and they brought the idea back a few years later with sets that included a figure. Those were awesome, and some of the unproduced sets were really cool.

After the footlocker crates, I think the later waves of Retaliation figures came well packed with weapons. As did some of the POC/Renegades figures but the line was being killed off again by Hasbro.
