So this thread on tfw2005 talks about a tank transformer with rubber treads. (Voyager class Bludgeon, and his later repaints) That came out around the time of the POC Hiss tank and 30th Crimson Hiss. Its been discovered that people are finding the rubber tank treads on Bludgeon have begun to melt the plastic they are touching. An issue with the chemical make up of the rubber used. I'll put the link to that thread below. But just to be safe, maybe everyone should check there Hiss v5 tanks (POC or crimson 30th) to see if this issue rises with the tank rubber treads as well, both hasbro products, TF Bludgeon and Joe tanks, came out around same time.. Just being safe-

My 30th Crimson HISS seems to be unaffected, thankfully.

Maybe a quick clear coat on the contact areas could mitigate any further damage...

Other boards have had similar discussions. One of the things that appears to help cause this issue is how the toy is stored - if it's out in the open air, like on a shelf or something, then it'll probably be fine, but if it's stored in a larger container, then there could be a problem.

I've found that vintage Ferret ATVs have the same problem with the wheels/tires, but those are much older toys after all.

The TF thread seems to say it's limited to a couple of specific TFs, not even other ones with similar rubbery parts from the same era. It sounds like a LOT of people have the problem, whether the toy is boxed or opened.
The Toy Biz Marvel Legends Morbius heads melted a while back for lots of people too I think, whether carded or loose. See it and weep: https://i0.wp.com/thefwoosh.com/wp-c...1/IMAG0339.jpg |

Sucks that they use cheap materials and market to collectors as well. I have several Mattel John Cenas whose plastic armbands have just turned to dust. Some are less than two years old!

Luckily Hasbro made a new Legends Morbius just in time to replace him.
Mattel had an issue with a lot of DC Universe and even super collector-marketed MOTUC figures exuding dust-like material from the plastic. You could clean them and it would reappear again. I think it was called mold release. And I think again it affected loose or carded figures. I don't think anyone knows if it's ever going to stop or what the long-term effects will be.
