GI Joe was originally created as a 12 inch doll. It was all about war back then. The franchise changed and evolved to shelter the young children from war by becoming Adventure Packs. GI Joe then evolved again into the 3 3/4th line once again revolving around war, I. E. the first 13 figures. It wasn't until the introduction of Cobra that the line took on a more Sci Fi feel. What we have today comes from the original 13 and the military forces they represented.

lol - it's funny you say that. Growing up, I too thought G.I. Joe was about war. Looking back on it now, I think it's less about War and more about a bunch of guys in two different sets of uniforms firing weapons in an open field - thank God no one ever got hurt! On that note - I'm interested to see how "adult" the movie is. |

They are trying to make the property a world franchise and not an American one.

I already feel like there are two factions forming - those who support the movie line of figures, and those who want nothing to do with them. Not sure where I stand yet. Need to see some of them in person.

If the movie and the movie toy line sells we all benefit from the trickle down. |

Funny thing Jay is I actually stand on both sides of that line....I'm pretty much not interesting in what toys I have seen...okay maybe the Raven Jr. Jet...I just don't like most of them.....BUT I hope like hell those of you that do like the line buy 30 of each piece, and see the movie 50 times each just so the whole Joe line gets some legs back under it.
If the movie and the movie toy line sells we all benefit from the trickle down. lol -- agreed. Even if I hate the movie, I think I'll tell everyone it's awesome and they should definitely see it. Whether it sucks or not, the entire Joe line will benefit from the movie's success. |
