So, with the new figures for the 50th Anniversary line hitting retail in about 2 months, I've been asking myself this question: Where does the 50th Anniversary line stack up amongst modern era figures (from 2008-present) and vehicles. Below is my ranking followed by a brief justification. Remember, this is just my opinion not the end all be all word of how things are.
1) POC Line/30th Line- Clearly the best articulation, weapons load-outs and overall vehicle selection. Great all the way around. 2) 50th line: Might be a surprise to some, but I feel with the newest figure assortment, vehicle assortment and selections we were given, this leaps over my #3 choice by a hair. 3) Retaliation: The ultimate wave was great and brought some of the POC feel with the weapons load outs. The 5-POA figures and vehicles is the reason for placing it below the 50th. 4) 25th: Simply put, it brought back the feel of ARAH but with a newly constructed figure. Vehicles were great and the choices seemed endless. Had these been built with POC construction, this would be my #1. 5) ROC: To me, they hit a home run with some figures and screwed the pooch on others. The paint apps felt rushed, the plastic seemed cheap and the vehicles...oh man the vehicles....made me want to throw up in my mouth a little bit. So, I have the 50th Anniversary figures ranked #2 amongst the ME figures...where do you rank it?

I pretty much agree with your ranking other than switching Retaliation and 25.
25th wasn't as advanced a build style, but it was still a better line. |

POC/30th
25th Retaliation 50th ROC but not really fair to compare when you consider volume. 25th and ROC got us the most product! |

1. 30th - Really like the troop builders we got with this line.
2. POC - Really like the later waves, but I didn't like wave 1 as much. 3. 50th - Minus the 25th remakes, it really allowed me to catch up on some much needed troop builders. Plus, the 50th Shipwreck has been great for customs. 4. DG - Even though we got 8 figures from this line, it lead to many customs in our collections. And they were only $6!!! The worse part of this line using up my gas spending 5-6 hours going from DG to DG. 5. Retaliation - The fact that I could get advanced build figures at 5 Below on the cheap was great!!! 6. Renegades - This line gave us the best Storm Shadow to date. Remember when you got him in hand!!! Just Awesome. 7. 25th - It restarted my Nostalgia for GI Joe. My wallet isn't happy, but I'm happy to have a "new" hobby again. 8. Resolute - I only mention this line as it gave us the best ARAH ME version of Roadblock. 9. ROC - This line gave us some good custom fodder (White coat Dr.) but overall, 25th parts all the same color was essentially a failure.

I don't know exactly where I'd place it, but probably towards the bottom. Most of the figures were re-issues, or repaints; the vehicles were all re-issues; the build quality and paint apps of the figures and gear were, in general, not as good as prior lines; and, the QC was poorer (I'm never going to stop mentioning that I went through 8 of the "Chase for the MASS Device" sets and got broken figures every time). That's not to say some good stuff didn't come out of it--there were more than a few awesome items that we got--I just feel like the line was largely phoned-in. A filler line.
Also, if what I heard is true, this year's line won't have the 50th branding.

50th
POC/30th 25th Retaliation ROC Not a huge fan of the movie figs, but 50th is amazing in terms of figures and their size/scale. 50th Gung Ho is one of my favorite figures of all time! |

I would say....
50th Beach Head, Destro, Gung Ho, Leatherneck, V2 Storm Shadow are all fantastic. Poc/ 30th definitely the best of its time and really paved the way for everything after. 25th a great introduction to the modern era. Renegades. Some great figures but not enough to really deserve a higher rank And Finally Roc while some gems are out there yhey are few and far between and the line is mostly forgetable.

Maybe you can point me to an image that shows the 50th branding on the package?

Somewhere on the forums here--I can't recollect exactly where. Maybe during the SDCC announcements phase. I didn't actually *see* the packaging, though, so I didn't have anything to verify that with.
Maybe you can point me to an image that shows the 50th branding on the package?
