My local Walmart's and Target's will do a 24 hour hold at the customer service desk. I have stashed a couple of thing's until payday though. I can't imagine that I would need to stash anything for over a week.

Around christmas time couple years back walmart
had these bible dolls that talked. Why they had them and who made them I'm not sure but they caught my eye. They had Samson, Moses, Mary and Joseph and they all talked. No Jesus to be found, though. Intrigued, I started looking... And you know what? I found Jesus. Behind the Remote Control Cars two aisles over... He talks about fish when you squeeze his armpit. It's great to have him back : ) |

I found a lot of wave 13 resolute troopers hiding with all the Star wars figures. More recently I found at least 10 Ms. Marvel figures and a few Captain America figures all stashed under a bunch of X-men origins wolverine stuff. I bought a Captain America figure cause I haven't seen him in stores anywhere.

HAHA! I thought I was the only one who did that! Me and my friend have merchandise hidden all over at Target. We actually still have a bunch of foil cards and stuff back there, It got cleaned out about 2 months ago, but before that we had a UBP hidden even after they were pulled from the shelves.

I hid a Battle Suit Cobra Commander W5 behind the sewing machines at Target once forgot I put it there then one day about two months later I was there with my wife when I remembered it.I checked and it was still there so I picked it up because it had the foil 25 logo on the card. Also found a 3 3/4 Hellboy 2 figure with the black T shirt hidden above in the storage bins at TRU,had to buy that one as well,I still can't decide if I should open it or not.

when i was around 7 or so i did this kinda thing, where i would put them either on "to the wall" space or put them on the shelf below or near. when i was a teenage punk my thieving pals would use the "system" of placing and moving (among other tactics) objects to eventualy walk out of the store with them. as an adult i find it all rahter silly, and since i have no interest in stealing i just look, but i keep my eyes open for whatever lies in my path. 10 directions at all times, or at least 8. I can deal with the "hiding" as being juvinile fun, as no one is monitarily put out, except for the stocker who has to spend the extra time replaceig items. I doubt it ever gets to the point ot messing up stock quotas...if it does soemone need a new hobby or get a better job to afford thier "prize". It's the repacking that really gets my goat. COBRA!

I don't hide stuff, but if I find something stashed in the wrong place I'll either buy it or put it back where it belongs. I'll even front the more popular Star Wars figures for the little kids.
One time, I saw this kid with her mom at a TRU. The mom kept telling him pick something now or you're not going to get anything. He really wanted a Capt. Rex, but was too little to hunt all the pegs. His mom wasn't even trying to help. I had already browsed the pegs before they got there, so I knew it wasn't there. Then, I went cruising another aisle and happen to find one stashed behind some R/C toys, so I walked it back over to him. You should have seen how excited he was. Somehow, I don't think hiding is right. Don't get me wrong, it's not this huge crime against humanity or anything. But, something tells me that if a store worker saw you doing it they would probably talk to you about it. And, if you forget that it's hidden under the bottom shelf for months, and gets damaged as a result then it's the same as stealing IMO. I didn't think hiding was that prevalent, but sounds like it's the norm these days. I'll be sure to check better if I can't find what I am looking for. And, the bending of cards is a new one on me. I never thought of that. I suppose I never noticed because I open all my figures anyway, so it wouldn't have mattered to me if it was a figure I wanted. |
