I used to find these all the time when i worked at kmart in the toy deptment. They dont work all that well unless you go back that day as they will get re shelved on the front of the peg.
We did find some pogs once moving around shelving units, they were about 10 years old. That was a well hidden stash (or just an unlucky occurance for that set of pogs) |

Yea I don't hide things long term (unless I forget it). I am just on a very limited budget and don't believe that using plastic is a way to solve that problem. I've never hid at K-mart because they still have lay-away. But, if I've spent my weekly budget and then I see something new, hell yea I'll hide it back until I get back the next week or maybe two. I've also stuck things back for another Joe collector friend of mine. I'll hide it and tell him where to find it, hid for like 3 hours? Never sold anything that I've bought for a profit, hell never sold anything period since I started collecting again back in 2001, so I don't feel real bad about doing it. It ain't like I'm buying stolen unproduced/unreleased merchandise off ebay or something!

It's how I obtained my black Timber Snake Eyes. Around the time the figure was starting to hit I came across one hidden behind some Thomas the Tank Engine stuff at a K.B Toys.
There's been numerous other times with other toy brands, but that was the one time it happened with GI Joe figures. |

I wish I had to balls to look under the bottom shelf. I tried once and it made a loud noise and people were looking at me. Never again.

I've found stuff in odd places every so often. Most recently I found the XMOW Deadpool hidden in the "top bins" at TRU (A regular spot to find hidden stuff, it seems) early on in the line's run when he was still kinda hard to find. The first time I found a Resolute Trooper he was seemingly stashed behind some vehicles and such.
I've hidden stuff once or twice, usually in a situation where I find it just before payday and come back the next day to get it. One time it proved quite justified as I never found those particular item(s) again. The other time it was pretty unwarranted as they ended up becoming plentiful later. |

I believe it's acceptable if your intention is to go grab the cash you need and come back to pick it up. The intention would be purchasing the toy. Re-packers are stealing, and scalpers are something completely different. Your comparing apples and oranges here.
