When rotated up, the engines on my Ghost Hawk don't ever get perpendicular to the ground. It only gets to about 75 degrees. If the engines fired at this angle, it wouldn't go straight up. Did I just get a bad one? Is the original Sky Hawk like this?
I can get the silver ends down totally vertical, but can't get them up vertical, like they should be. Last edited by cyclonus8; 05-21-2009 at 02:19 AM.. |

Mine is the same way, part of the tail keeps it from tilting at a 90 degree angle.

Same here. Seems to be the way the new ones are made.

Yep, but that's alright, that exhaust jet underneath acts as a stabilizer allowing for, more or less, vertical flight... You know, assuming the thing could get off the ground in the first place.
...and it wasn't a toy. |

I could say that this is the type of flaw I'm willing to overlook, the type of flaw that my imagination can handle. I _could_ say that, and it might even be true.
But. If I said that I might also just be covering for the fact that I don't know anything about planes or engine-eering. (Except for 1:18 ). Some of you guys know a lot, some even do something of the sort professionally. You could run --er, fly-- circles around me. So to speak. I wish I could. True story: my highschool math teacher said to me "You will be brilliant ---but not in mathematics!"

As Awesome as the Sky/Ghost Hawk is as a toy and for the cartoon etc.. In Real Life the thing would never work IMO.. I wish it would.. it would be so freaking cool.. but the major flaw in it is.. Where the HECK are you going to Store the Fuel?
If you did make one that size and assuming all those engines didnt cook the pilot.. It could Take off and Land and then it would be out of Fuel. but I still think its one of the coolest toys ever.

Did the original's engines go all the way vertical?
It is a cool vehicle, but totally unrealistic as you guys mentioned before. Besides all that, what is up with the four foot pegs on the skids? How are you going to find four guys to stand on those while this thing is jerking around in the sky? If you aren't shaken off, you'll either get fried by the engines or the exhaust from the missiles. |

yeha, the originals could go all the way Vertical (interestingly though, they added a third engine underneath to the new one ~ so the VTOL engines could be lift and the under one could be thrust)
that's weaksauce though that the engines can't go all the way vertical!!! and the original only had 2 foot pegs at the front of each skid, kinda crazy they put 4 on the new one ~ not where i'd want to ride!
