A lot of folks are still upset over not seeing any more of their favorite 25th figures. Well, we have to get over the fact that ROC is where Hasbro is going to stay with their figures for some time. We have to deal with it, and we might as well see the positive side of it. Here's a few "pros" from my point of view...
1. We actually got some decent weaponry. Finally, I've got a Steyr, Tavor, M-4 with 203 grenade launcher, HK MP5/MP5K, SOCOM .40, and other weapons we didn't see too often. 2. We're not only getting good weapons, we're getting more. I've yet to get one figure that has a shortage of firepower. And I can say that now I go through my old coffee can o'guns and realize that I still could change some weapons out. 3. If you don't like the celebrety face, you can always pop it off and put an older one on. Most figures are like this, and if nothing else this gives the figures a good custom-fodder appeal. 4. The offscreen characters are awesome. Even if you don't like the movie characters, the "extras" are great: Shipwreck, Barbecue, Flash, Kamakura, Firefly, Helix... they're great, and we'd have probably not seen some of these guys done so well if they hadn't been shoved into the ROC lineup. 5. The box art is... well, it's awesome. I have to say I do miss the old file cards and retro packaging... but the new box art is beautiful. You can't argue that. I do wish they'd get rid of the huge blurb on the right hand side on the back and make a full lineup of all the characters. 6. Great vehicles. Well, who can argue that getting new vehicles is a bad thing? Sure, some of them are a bit 'tarded (drill pod...?), but until this point all we got were rehashed classic vehicles, which is cool... but we needed something new. 7. We got decent figure stands. With two pegs for BOTH sides. Personally, I'd like to replace my old stands with the new ones just to give the shelf some symmetry... but I doubt anyone would be game for that. So, it could be worse. Steel Crusher: awesome (once you get rid of the cattleguard) Drill Pod/Lava Pod: just really boring in my book. can barely hold 1 figure, really only has a single purpose, lacking in play value. Dragon Hawk: not a bad design, but way to small. Night Raven: a joke compared to nearly any vintage Joe plane, including the original. actually manages to be significantly less realistic than something made 20 years ago. now, a lot of this is on the movie designers, not Hasbro, but for $40 you don't even get rolling tires??? Comparing this to the $25 Target jets and there is no comparison. Rock Slide: well, i just think it's kind of a lame design ~ not really good or bad, but i did think the sculpting was pretty sub-par. and repainting a snowmobile for the desert is one of the lamer moves i've ever seen. Cobra Gunship: one of the lamest 'vehicles in the history of Joe to me. and people complain about Battle Force 2000. give it a rotor or even some VTOL/osprey style winges/jet engines, and MAYBE we could talk, but as is is just weak, weak weak ~ and the cargo area is barely large enough for figures. The PIT: has some good ideas, but just seems flimsy and kinda weak compared to earlier bases ~ the MCC pulled this idea off a lot more convincingly IMHO and unless i am mistaken, that is IT for new molds for this line, everything else is rehashes from other eras until we get to the PoC line. An entire movie line with 7 new molds (and the Dragon Hawk is off-screen and the PIT doesn't really count) Quote:

I agree with a couple of your points, kinda agree with a couple, and totally disagree with a couple.
About the best thing to come from RoC is a fairly uniform look for the team. While i'm not a big fan of the blue camo, i have found a use for them in my 'verse. |

You do make a lot of good points, but I gotta say the Steel Crusher is the only decent new vehicle IMHO.
By new, I mean not a reuse of old molds. The new figure stands are far superior as well. |

they make great customs... other than that i like that we are getting vintage playsets. although i'm in a position that i have to let them pass me by like the pharcyde. if times were better, i would buy a ish load of the vintage style playsets. i was so excited to see we were getting em, but it saddens me that i have to let them pass..
