Hello all. I am new on the site and just getting started with my new Joe collection. I collected back in the 80's and am now enjoying the 25th anniversary launch ( I know I'm behind). Any way in my search I came across some real B.S. at my local Wal-Mart in the Pittsburgh, Pa area. Since the racks were empty, I used the UPC number from the single carded figures tag and had the customer service desk do a search for me. The result was....17 on hand. Great!! Next I found an associate in toys to help me find the figures. Since the bin location number was on the rack, the employee went to the back to find the case. Result - no box. The employee said that she could not find the box anywhere? I then spoke with the manager and she said that the dept is doing an overhaul and she is not sure where the box is or that the computer may be wrong in stating that there are 17? In the end, the manager stated that she would have to do some investigating? Thus now I'm waiting for probably more lies and B.S. This game is getting old. Furthermore, regardless of where I check (Wal-Mart, Toys R Us, Target) there are no Joes to be found. This is enough to make me not even want to start this collection.
Can anyone on here make any sense of these Wal-Mart games? |

I'd guess one of the following:
#1: Someone stole them. #2: Someone hid them in the store somewhere. #3: Someone bought them but they did not scan for some reason and inventory was not properly tracked. #4: It's in the back some where and they just can't find it (or it's too difficult to get to). I've heard stories (well actually only one story) of Wal~Mart not putting something out because it's way in the back or way up high behind all kinds of other crap. |

Storm Shadow is right. There are quite a few reasons why it would show up with a wrong Balance On Hand. If the product was damaged but not scanned out is a reason, theft is another. If the item is misplaced or if the cashier manually keyed the item in. There are several other reasons but the top on my list is that the department head isn't doing regular or proper shelf reviews. Every day the department head should at least once scan all holes and low spots in their department and check the BOH. That way they know to look for it in the back if there is a hole. If they can't find it then adjust the BOH and order another one. It's real simple but Walmart just doesn't care to get it right.

Truly, Hasbro and nearly all the retailers were caught off-guard by the popularity growth of this line. Collector's can't get their hands on new releases fast enough no matter what it is, it seems, and even the peg warmers are slowly being bought up while we wait for the new stuff. The result will likely be a reactive glut of Joes in the near future. Hasbro smells money now with this line, and will start pumping these out like nobody's business and Walmart will get their share I'm sure. Think Star Wars or Transformers about 2 months ago, that's what I expect to see in the next few months. A little patience and I expect you will be able to get a hold of nearly everything you want. Welcome to the tank! |

Truly, t'was the folly of Hasbro and nearly all the retailers that they were caught off-guard by the popularity growth of this line. We collector's can't get our hands on new releases fast enough no matter what it is, it seems, and even the peg warmers are slowly being bought up while we wait for the new stuff. --Background crowd: AYE!-- The result will likely be a reactive glut of all things Joes in the near future. Hasbro smells money, and blood, now with this line, and will start pumping these out like water through a whale's blowhole and Walmart will get their cut of the booty, of that I be sure. Welcome to the tank! Yee-aaaarrrgh! |

I will say this Wal Mart thing is bizarre...
I've been going to the same store nearly every 2-3 days for the past few weeks and have formed a kind of "relationship" with the persona working in toys. Every time I go she always tells me "I still show 35 on order...I don't know why they aren't in yet..." I just don't get it, it it Hasbro delaying the shipment of these things? None of my local stores have received any figs past '07 Wave 3 in nearly 2 months... |

I keep asking myself "Why in hell am I doing this?" over and over only to silently scream "AAAAARG!!!" when I once again see the same empty pegs I've been looking at since late November. |
