Finally just yesterday wave 4 & 5 started trickling in to my area in MN.

And believe me, I've BEEN looking.

No wal-marts in my neighborhood, but targets everywhere here.

To explain the mysterious "17 on-hand", I could say when I bought mine, when the cashier scanned the new wave, they didn't come up on the register. "How much were they?" she asked in a polite grunt, "4.99.." I promptly replied...."okay, sounds good to me..."....she used a 9999 code to ring em up. I know wal-mart usually charges 4.98, and target is usually more expensive Joe's at 5.99. So I was happy. Also the new Nightwatch Optimus Prime didnt scan up either......"34.99" I told her for that one....yay.
I love Target.

Now the only problem with the misc 999 code is they don't get inventoried correctly, and in my view, it throws off the count for sure. Also when they 999, it is a hassle to get a refund at a different store becuse you didn't purchase it that store. No biggie, still saved a couple dollars.

JGASBO,
I'm in Pittsburgh too, over by west mifflin, where are you at? The same thing happened to me at the wal-mart in north versailles. this whole area has been dried up since a month before xmas, .

2 out of the 3 Walmarts in my area haven't had any Joes in almost two months. Those same 2 stores ALSO haven't done their resets. When I go into those stores, I get a distinct feeling I'm in KMart or TRU, which are both worthless.

The action figure aisle in the two Walmarts have been empty since before Christmas, almost a month ago.

Actually they are 4.88 at my Wal-Mart, I got Duke, Destro,Storm Shadow v1 and the Cobra Air Trooper last night. We still had Scarlett, Roadblock, Gung-Ho and Cobra Commander(Battle Helmet) as of 8pm. Whn I left at midnight only Gung-Ho and CC were left.

Truly, Hasbro and nearly all the retailers were caught off-guard by the popularity growth of this line. Collector's can't get their hands on new releases fast enough no matter what it is, it seems, and even the peg warmers are slowly being bought up while we wait for the new stuff. The result will likely be a reactive glut of Joes in the near future. Hasbro smells money now with this line, and will start pumping these out like nobody's business and Walmart will get their share I'm sure.

Think Star Wars or Transformers about 2 months ago, that's what I expect to see in the next few months. A little patience and I expect you will be able to get a hold of nearly everything you want.
Very, very well put! This is exactly what I would have said had I thought of just as erudite a response.

You know what's interesting, I'd read on this forum recently that Target stores have Wave 4 and 5, and that when you bring the figures to checkout they don't ring up. Honestly, I had no idea this was an epidemic across America at all Targets though, as I had the same experience on Wed. of this week when I picked up several W4 figures. Although when she frantically kept trying to ring them up and nothing was happening, I ponied up the correct price of $5.99 a piece. It sounds like the above person dropped that price by a dollar per figure, no? Naughty, naughty. :-D

Someday we'll say, "All I found were wave 5 peg warmers and no wave 7 to be found. I hate Wal-Mart and collecting. Hasbro sucks!"

Hehe.
