I was thinking the same thing. Wolf Squad is a cool sounding name and I actually like the colors. However, what is their background/story? Night Force and Tiger Force have a theme that binds their individual characteristics together. This kind of feels like Hasbro painted a bunch of figs grey, and after the fact, decided to call them a squad.

Wolf force. Maybe. But blue Dusty and Bazooka seem like the worst ideas of this series.

The retro sub teams have done well for the GIJOE club in the past few years.
Focusing on repaints and sticking characters into sub teams could be a reaction to the recent rise in popularity of club product. The thing is, the rise in the popularity of club product is probably due to the decline in availability of Hasbro product. Kirk Bozigian pointed out that the years with higher sales were those with more product available in the line. That was a constant from 1964 to 1994. An original sub team would be a great way to introduce new characters and even give IDW something to work with to create new stories. Repaints is just following the core character or Batman in multiple suits model of a product line. Time we moved past that stale model from 25 years ago and got something new. We have had two years of a sprinkling of repaints with a couple of new sculpts tossed into the mix in a row now. We need to show Hasbro that this is not the product we want (unless it is what you want) and that this is not something fresh but just a new take on the last two years. New sub teams would be great, new ideas, new play patterns, new story potential.

Always a fan of sub teams; I just wish the sub teams had more purpose, kind of how x-force was for the men. Also. like others would like to see more new characters.

The correct way of doing a sub-team:
All new characters with a similar purpose - Sky Patrol, BF2000, Iron Grenadiers, Crimson Guards etc. The WRONG way of doing a sub-team: Tiger Force, Python Patrol, Wolf Squad, or ANYTHING that is a repaint of existing characters. This is the wrong kind of subteam. |

I thought the urban camo on Flint was way cooler than the blue or gray decos this year. That said, wolf squad is cool enough and its evocative. If kids dig it, cool.
