As excited as I am to see Toys R Us continue the 50th Anniversary line; it seems like there's something missing. Its only 80s ARAH. OreoBuilder's customs (below) show pre-existing Hasbro parts can indeed make 3.75" figures inspired after the 12" classics. This brings us to the following...
POLL QUESTION: In future TRU 50th Joes, would you like to see 3.75" figures that honor the 12" classics? Photo Credit - http://www.hisstank.com/forum/g-i-jo...rap-up-ob.html Last edited by Tuskegee Joe; 05-03-2015 at 11:41 AM.. |

Well it's not really all 80's ARAH. Alot of the same 80's characters yes, but not the same 80's designs. I think only three 80's updates really, Stormshadow, Gung-Ho and Zartan. But I do agree with you. I would love to see the old 12 inch Joes recreated. That is what the 50th line should of opened up with I think.
I really liked what they did back in, was it 1994 ? I didn't know about them back then. I had stopped collecting in late 92. But over the last few years I've picked up all of those classic Joes (except the convention action pilot with the black jumpsuit). A modern update of that box set they did back then would be great. They would also be perfect for army builders. Heck if we had a 3.75 version of that action sailor it would motivate me to finally save up and get a USS Flagg just to have a ship to display them on. |

It seems like more of a Club endeavor or an online exclusive. Considering how removed most kids are from ARAH, I wonder if enough kids would be interested in picking those up from TRU. I don't see as much troop building potential or custom fodder for the collector crowd that would be interested. How many club members would buy a Con set with that theme or could the Club get away with sprinkling a few in the FSS?

Would probably be a good set to sell on or near military bases, as it would be realistic. Make them with different skin tones and female versions as well. Then kids with parents in the military could have toys of their parents. |

I would LOVE that set, I am an old 12 inch fan and could really use all four of those guys the way I play 4 inch Joes.

No offense to those who collect dolls...er I mean 12" action figures, ;-) but those figures are a little too generic for my tastes. Granted I love the Task Force figures but they're very modern with tons of options. I suppose we could get a few cool troop builders from the 1/6 line but I'd rather they make new Joe characters.

^^^ Agreed.
It would definitely be awesome if TRU can offer some classic Joes (similar to OB's customs) for the 50th Anniversary Collection. Till then, we can only drool at OB's superb customs... Last edited by Tuskegee Joe; 04-14-2015 at 06:34 AM.. |
