So it might depend on how well-known the character is for it to sell. Like one kid could love Cobra Commander because he saw him on Family Guy one time but then he'd hate Flash because he has no idea who he is.

It's very refreshing to see a thread praising Hasbro instead of bashing them.

Hasbro has done a great job i just wish they kept the O ring and they would be the best figs ever. and alot easier to customize.

If they had used an O-ring in the construction, I wouldn't have bought anywhere near as many as I have.

I actually don't miss the O ring. I haven't had my old figures break due to old dry O rings, but its still something I do worry about in the long run.

I'm happy to leave the o-ring in the yester-year of Joes. The new body construction is never going to make me worry about loose rings/stripped back screws, etc.
On a side note, if you need o-rings, Shin, lmk, I have plenty ;) |

Put it this way guys, with nothing but nostalgia to drive it, the anniversary line is being bought up primarily by collectors, and parents who suddenly remember it once they see the retro style packaging and feel an urge of nostalgia. Are there kids buying it? Yes. I have in fact seen some. However even Hasbro mentioned at the con how this was a line catering to collectors.
So if anything its hard for any of us, adult or child to buy, due to retailers underestimating demand. Scalpers make it hard also, but honestly if retailers ordered a lot more this would not be the case. So what will kids collect? The movie stuff, when it hits next year. |

I don't worry about the kids. Sorry. I know there are a lot of people out there that say "REMEMBER THE KIDS!!"...but as this thread points out, the 25th line = Love. Whereas GIJ fans collect SW & TF stuff, it's a completely different thing to see so many TF & SW fans picking up joes. Retailers weren't prepared for this kind of demand. I blame it all on Dr. Link Talbot.

Not that I don't disagree with what you're saying. But part of managing the GI Joe brand is expanding its market base beyond those who grew up as kids in the 80s and early 90s. Just think that in 60s they had their 12 inch figures. By creating a new line, the ARAH, in 1982 Hasbro was able to create a new generation of fans. In effect, the line grew to become one of the most successful of all time. While initially Hasbro may have created this 25th anniversary line for the collector market, stating that would only make 25 figures, they should work to attract the interests of kids because that's where they're going to make most of their profits in the long run. It also would extend the life of the GI Joe brand.
