The thread about the new G.I. Joe logo on the comic reminded me that the Eaglehawk's box featured a different logo from the Retaliation toys. The package design and artwork is similar to the Retaliation shit, but the logo is more like a 30th/POC logo with a ninja star riding its ass. Anyway, any guesses/info on what that was about? Was there another line planned for after the Retaliation line? Or was it just some sort of weird one-off? Seems odd to design a "new" logo for one product though. Might just as well keep using the Retaliation logo.

Yeah this whole 50th line thing is a really sick rumor.
The elaborate photoshops are really vexing! |

It has nothing to do with any 50th Anniversary considering the logo was for 2013 but the 50th is this year, 2014.
The Eaglehawk has the same logo as the micro force figures that came out last year, so there was obviously going to be a shift in branding for the G.I. Joe brand after Retaliation. I'd suspect this is why Target did not carry waves 3.5 and 4 of Retaliation, because they did not want Retaliation branded product anymore since it was over. Target did not drop the brand after Retaliation since they stocked the micro force figures, but Hasbro had no figures to sell alongside them since waves 3.5 were delayed and still Retaliation product. It is possibly why they dropped the Eaglehawk, since they had no new figures to merchandise with it. No figure, no need for a new vehicle. |

I recall last year a bunch of mysterious listings appeared in TRU's system for stuff we never heard about:
655875 Ninja Army Special Ops $3.99 913370 Special Ops Starter Pack $4.99 835442 Special Ops Vehicles $24.99 913230 Special Ops Tomahawk $42.99 And at one point, Target had a shelf tag labeled "GI JOE Sp Ops Single Pk" at $4.99 (which didn't fit the price points for Micro Ops, btw). So, yes, the Eaglehawk was part of a Retaliation follow up that ended up scrapped due to Retaliation's push back and Hasbro's own non-commitment to the GI Joe brand at the time. Though I'm still not convinced a lower POA action figure wasn't a part of that plan given the prices above.
