Do you not think the nightmare episode was lowlights? I like them both but given the choice my preference would be lowlight if not just for his character the figure alone is amazing either way I think most of those figured were covered. And we were trying to make a small list without breaking the bank. Lol. Sdcc Zarana and Sdcc TTT sarge (which is the one I would rather have) really take some change.... And as far as ME figs go you are right most are a super vast improvement compared to the oring counter parts.

I went back and found all of the 82-88 o-ring figures I wanted with no intention of buying 25th and beyond. Then I saw the black Dollar General Cobra Trooper and started building a small ME set, but only of ones currently released. It can become a sickness really fast. If you can limit yourself to keeping a low budget and patiently waiting for what Hasbro releases, it can still be a fun hobby. I want a Renegades Law & Order so bad sometimes it hurts, but there's no way I'm paying $35 on up for him. Maybe he'll be released again, maybe not, it's all about enjoying the collecting and not letting it become an obsession.

I would say there are a lot more figures worth getting than just that list even if you're just going for main characters. Don't forget the 30th Cobra Soldier and Viper as well as any release of the BAT. Sci-Fi is also a more main character than Lowlight. He had a whole Sunbow episode devoted to him which Lowlight never did. Let's not forget the SDCC red Jinx and SDCC Slaughter. And Serpentor, Scrap-Iron (who probably had more dialogue in Sunbow than Firefly), Beach Head, Major Bludd, Wild Bill, Roadblock, Stalker, Cover Girl, Dusty, Quick Kick, Zarana, Zandar, all the Dreadnoks...
There are very few modern figures made since 2007 that I think are inadequate or really need an update. I don't understand the nitpicking some people do over the 25th line. They're almost all massive improvements over the original o-ring figures. The only ones that aren't improvements to me are Spirit and Mainframe, mainly because of the ugly heads on them. The single-carded Shipwreck was also a real mess, but the 5-pack one was perfect. The 50th Lady Jaye has the hat, a big no-no for a Sunbow version. You should go with the DVD Battles or 5-pack one for a cartoon version. That 5-pack also has the good Shipwreck and Hawk, a key main character for season 2. This guy's video page on Veoh has the entire run of ARAH toons posted: Watch Videos Online | Doug | Veoh.com I agree add 30th Scifi POC/30th Viper POC/30thCobra trooper 25th Bat 25th Dusty this one Dusty (v12) G.I. Joe Action Figure - YoJoe Archive SDCC Zarana and bbts Zandar That 5pack with Hawk LJ ShipWreck and Flint was really good. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Hasbro-78856...item1c3fc8da78 I think Major Blood, Spirit , Gung Ho, Roadblock and Serpentor all need updates. They look dated compared to POC, 30th, Retaliation figures Quote:

So how hard are Joe's to find at retail normally?
I know with TFs, it became a hassle to find anything at retail. You better find them week 1 or your not finding them. Is this the same? Also, where do you guys buy most older figures? Here? eBay? Would prefer to not do eBay. I know with TFs there is no deals on eBay, the deals tend to be on the boards. |

Most of the time pretty easy. The chase figures are usually a bitch to get. Hasbro toy shop has most of the retaliation figures listed last I checked

I think I gotta go grab the G1 cartoon and watch it again.
I know I want Gung Ho and Shipwreck for sure. Lady Jay, Fint. But not sure of the characters since I haven't seen them in such a LOOOOOONG time. Besides Bareness coming with Ravage, why do you recommend SDCC Bareness? (I actually fought myself and passed on that set, DUMB!) Oh, and 50th Baroness should be sufficient for you. That's the great 2009 5pk version. I guess some people think her head is too small. My only problem with the head is that is doesn't turn very much because of the hair. Quote:

Even now, after 5 years collecting the modern line, I've managed to resist about 75% of the 25th stuff, 90% of ROC, 25% of POC and 30th, and 90% of Retaliation. Still, I'm always looking for ways to downsize my relatively modest collection. Constant sifting of wheat from chaff. Get your favorite Joe characters, and get the main Cobras. The way I look at it is: there are so many different characters so that you (originally as a kid, now an adult) have a lot of selection to choose from, to pick favorites and ignore the others. How many fans had ALL the figures or characters when they were kids? I know I didn't, not even close. YOU should control your collection, don't let Hasbro or any other company control it, by getting in this Completist all-or-nothing mindset where you've just gotta have everything they dump on you. That's giving THEM the power. Personally, my greatest desire at this point is to have an Ultimate Cobra Command lineup, with all the top Cobras accounted for. The lack of a great Major Bludd, Serpentor and Dr. Mindbender is really preventing this, at the moment. A better Zartan would be much appreciated, too.

Yeah Serpent or was a let down. Mindbender was only ok. I don't mind my 5pack Zartan. But would buy an updates one anyway.

Side note: the CG in the "ultimate" wave is 100% old school awesome, once you remove the vest.

Completely agree with the advice here. Here's a quick list of 25th figures that are out that are pretty much ultimate quality/G1er approved:
Bazooka, 5-pack Shipwreck, 5-pack Lady Jaye, Alpine, Dusty, Quick-Kick, BAT, Torch, Airborne, Copperhead, Zap, Recondo, Barbecue, Snow Job, Croc Master. The lines after the 25th line were more consistent, so any figures that look accurate will be awesome (lifeline, sci-Fi, airtight, etc.) |

25th is what got me back into joe as well. You cannot beat the card art and the loose ones are silly affordable on ebay with a few exceptions. Good luck and happy hunting.
