Both characters received ample face time in the cartoons and the comics.
Quick Kick was interesting as he (taken from the comics) would have been a haunted individual after his capture, and his badass-ness he displayed in Special Missions 27 and 109 shortly before his death. If there was any character in the comic that I would have expected to eventually die (besides Stalker) it was Quick Kick. The cartoon Quick Kick was comic relief alongside Alpine and Bazooka. Not much else there other than he was a funny character. Shipwreck garners his popularity more from the toons then the comics (pre DDP of course). He did have a good run during the 40's-70's but I would be more people recall his cartoon exploits more than the Hama ones. |

I was never a fan of either Quick Kick or Shipwreck. I was in my mid-teens when ARAH came out and I started collecting the comics and figures. Because of the rather stringent laws that used to govern TV shows linked to toys here in the UK, we never got the cartoon, so my opinions have always been based on the comic book version (primarily Marvel) and the very few cartoons I have seen apart from the movie.
I always preferred characters like Snake Eyes, Stalker, Flash, Doc, Hawk and Tunnel Rat. I think it was Quick Kicks outfit that put me off him the most. No top and no shoes. Not exactly de rigeur for a military unit, and not very practical. From what I have seen of both of them in the cartoon, I think I would have disliked them even more if I had been exposed to it for longer. |

Quick Kick was a nice sculpt figure for back then but not too practical with-in the scope of the line. How could he seriously go on missions dress like that?
Shipwreck as many have said was main character on the cartoon. As a toy you could always put him with Cutter on the Whale. |

i never really liked Shipwreck as a kid (i appreciate him more now) all my family was Air Force/Army/Marines so i never wanted a 'squid' (<-- no offense meant, that was from my 9 year old self)
the thing about Quick Kick was, despite his kind silly Bruce Lee outfit, he's frickin' bad-ass, read his file card. and he was pretty hardcore in the comics ~ when he lit up with the Saw Vipers hog after all the guys got gunned down in the big war multi-parter and just kept shooting after it was all out of ammo was one of my favorite moments in the comics.
