It's sad to know that the Modern Era will go on hiatus. Well for me the movie figures are somewhat interesting, i might buy that looks cool for me.
It's good to know that Hasbro still brings us GI JOE figures. Modern Era or not it's still GI JOE However, i might totally lose my interest in Joes if Hasbro decided to completely stop producing GI JOE toys. Well, the hiatus of the Modern Era gave advantage for starting collectors like me so they can chase and complete the figures until the next Modern Era arrives. sorry for my poor english |

As an avid collector, I am disappointed by the business perspective Hasbro is taking on producing only Movie G.I. Joe merchandise for a year. They didn't learn their lesson that the modern ARAH line is the only reason Goes are being purschased in mass quantities. Once you give us Sigma Six, G.I. Joe Extreme and Movie toy lines they are an epic fail...
I am dissapointed by the "keep it affordable" mentality. That means that vehicles/playsets will all be scaled down in size from their original forms because of the "rise in cost of plastic". I would spend real money on a SkyStryker F22 (muah $60 +) a Terrordome ($60 +) or any other product that pays homage to the 80's-90-s toy line as long as it is updated like the Ghost Hawk. The G.I. Joe toy can never appeal to a younger audience since kids play video games much more now than they did back when Atari was popular. With that said, I will definitely pick up any vehicles that aren't repaints/renamed. I think the vehicles from the movie are the only saving grace available for us until next year. Its sad they already stopped shipping out ARAH lines to Wal-Mart and Targets in my area. Now I can catch up on collecting something else (sleep..) |

4. I really don't care about the movie at all. It's just another capitalist franchise crossover assembled by a bunch of unimaginative soulless "artists" who couldn't direct a compelling episode of The Golden Girls (just look what those talented women did with some of the awful stories they had to work with). Will I go see it? Meh.
In the end we're all just feeding the hungry capitalist whether we support the movie or the cartoon. If this movie came out back in the "eighties"...it would probably be the greatest movie experience of my entire life. 2nd to Star Wars of course...I'm going to see this movie through the eyes of 8 year old me. When the Original TMNT movie came out I was outraged that bebop and rocksteady were not in the flick...it didn't stop me from seeing it 11 times...2 of those times I saw it dubbed in spanish...in the theater. |

The thing that has kept me the most interested in the 25th line are the homages to both the comic story line ie Scarface, Hard Master, 'Fred' CG AND the cartoon line ie DVD Battle Packs, Cobra Diver. Even though I'm much more into the comic discipline, I was a fan of the old Sunbow cartoons so when I see the homages to both, it keeps me interested and hungry for more...

I've still not got all the guys i'd like to get. Duke, Mutt, Cobra trooper/officer, more of the first 13. etc etc. Now in the stores it's just a few figures left. And they've been hanging there for awhile now. Course i don't have them yet, i seen a lot of the figures before in stores i was tempted to buy them then but i didn't. Wish i'd of started sooner now.

I agree with most of what you say just not to the degree that you say it. I'm still enthused. Maybe it has not sunk in yet that other than the very cool 7 packs that are all new versions of characters we will not see much till the crappy movie figures.
I have been doing a lot of conditioned habits like stopping into every retailer sometimes up to 7 a day looking for something new only to find there is absolutely nothing new out there. I'm wondering when it will stop. Maybe when I come to that realization is when I will get discouraged. When do the crappy movie figures hit?

I haven't lost intrest, but Hasbro has made me lost intrest. This line has had the worst distrubution i have ever seen in a toy line.Hasbro has been doing this for to long to make the stupid mistakes that have made with this line.
I'll bet we don't see this same problem with the movie line. |

Heh, I've actually gained interest, believe it or not. I've been collecting since 1982. I loved the Anniversary line, but where was the NEW stuff? I've got all these guys in o-ring form already, bring on some new ideas.
Now we're getting some very new ideas, new looks, new concepts, and new characters. I'm all for it. I'll take Sgt. Stone over "Cartoon-Accurate Snake Eyes in that one episode that one time in Season 2" any day of the week. If nothing else, it totally leaves me guessing. When we see leaked Wal-Mart lists for characters like Charbroil and Kamakura, at least now I actually don't know what to expect... Justin The movie and resolute line inject newness and creativity in a line that was for all intents and purposes a rehash/copy. Maybe it's because a few of us have been through all of the GI Joe reboots and that instead of fearing it we actually start looking forward to what the next change is going to be. This "hiatus" of the 25th line is nothing compared to the real hiatus the Joe line took a few years back. Joe product will still be in stores for you all, you'll still get some of your 25th figures thrown in movie line packaging . . . not much of a real hiatus.

I feel the same way. Truth be told, I find myself looking at my 25th collection and wondering why I bought them in the first place, when I already have every single one of those figures in RAH form.
