Imagine if HASBRO would cash in on the rogue subculture that have captured the imagination of the customizer/hobbiest! If they would start pimping/ marketing their stuff respectively I can't help but feel that it would cause a resurgence if done right! Imagine army building packs of legs, arms, heads, weapons, decals, accessories & gear, even DIY paint products for the more intense. More of a hobbiest/toy line to the effect, right?!!? O-ring figs & the latter please, thank-you! Would you go "ape-squirt" over this idea?

It could be done, I really think they want to sell figures and forget the rest, anything else would cause more of their stuff to sit on the shelves. As customers we aint buying what they make now, I mean heck the pegs are full everywhere I go, if we bought it they would make more and more

I've seen & been an accessory to bid wars on e-bay for part lots and forget the price gouging on those custom resin molded heads. I think if HASBRO could keep their margins "reasonable" they just might come off profitable. I wonder if the recent resurgence I've seen in the LEGO line has anything to do with their given ability to tweak & re-tweak your own creation.

What I would like to see is something like those McFarlane Halo sets, had a base figure and different optional heads and vests.
Wouldn't a cobra trooper, with viper head and vest, and maybe shock trooper head and vest helmet etc pack sell like crazy? Maybe an urban repaint with alley viper gear. Do some joes up like greenshirts with different heads to swap, steel brigades, pilots, etc etc Probably would be easiest to slip some females into there too. Swappable heads and gear would be able to fill in for a few figures we wouldn't see normally. I mean heck, the tooling for everything is there already and they could pack in everything on a card still yet. With the build a figure gimmick, they literally could name the line army builder. The only reason Hasbro shouldn't do it is if they hate money. |

^they know you'll buy a figure for its head,or webgear. I do. I've bought dozens of the same figure for its load out. why sell you a pack full of gear, when tgey know the customizer will and does buy whole figures to aquire it.

I like the idea. What I don't know is, are there enough customizers to support a retail line? Maybe this is a good idea for the club or an exclusive line?

Being a club or exclusive would be a good as long as they were priced reasonably. Neither of those options are that great considering their usual prices, unless a place like BBTS got one of their exclusive packs.

In my opinion; this would work if Hasbro did this sort of thing with Ebay! Action figure parts (..heads, etc.) would do real well on Ebay! -I'm surprised they haven't done this already!

In some ways they already do, having generic colored troopers in the retaliation 3 packs that utilized some of the most desirable parts and then also having inexpensive and highly articulated single figures using some of the same parts at DG and online seem to me are both directly aimed at collectors and customizers alike. I am happy with how it is currently done as it allows for them to both get out a variety of figures to kids and parts to customizers.
