Yeah, I actually prefer non-foil because it more closely resembles the old cards.
Agreed though the value was probably higher during the days of RoC when a lot of collectors were brought into the fold but couldn't find 25th at retail. I think most are caught up now, but I bet prices will pick up again when the sequel comes out. |

Really? I thought 25th stuff drove ARAH prices down... I remember there was a thread about people not caring about ARAH anymore or something like that. I mean except for certain ARAH vehicles and playsets of course; but those probably would have retained their value anyway.

potf doesnt compare to the 25th line. potf sux, 25th was awesome.
that being said, i dont look to make any long term investments n toys. profit is to be made by short term speculation. strike the hammer while the iron is hot.

Saying comics isn't dead by using a "local comic shop" as reason is like saying GI Joe is a huge hit because of all the people on hisstank on a given day. I would hazard that the kids are there BECAUSE the owner wisened up offering Bakugan and Beyblade events to bring kids in there (in the hope they become regular customers)
Comics ARE largely dead. You have a local comic shop, but I haven't had one in over 15 years since that bubble burst. A given good month for a comic is a sales range of 50-75 thousand units (and a majority of titles run anywhere from 10-25 thousand, thats less than a given mass market action figure). Comic shops are a rare thing if you don't live in a large metropolitan area And the "kids not interested in toys" isn't a terribly new event, the trend was building momentum back in 2000 (A Brandweek article from the time had a quote from Mattel's then CEO about how they loose a given kid around the age of 8 to electronic devices. I remember buying toys well into my early teens). It's not just game consoles, but the proliferation of smart phones, tablets, labtops, portable media players, social networking, and a VAST upswing in competing material. In our days, a given household had maybe a dozen channels. Now? A given basic cable package is well over 45-60 channels, and that number can grow to well over 300 on premium packages. And of those, well over a dozen are aimed at kids. The biggest momentum shift in the industry occurred in the late 90s/early 2000s when those new electronic media gained prominance. Action figures (as a toy category) have been on the slide ever since (Just in the past 5 years, I've seen my local Walmart shrink action figures by over 50%)
