Has the window of availability already closed on 30th anniversary waves 3 and 4 at retail?
There is always a drought this time of year, but I could almost see this being like 2009 again... a major clearing of the pegs in anticipation of the movie line in May. What do you think the chances are? Will Walmart restock? Are they gone from Toys R Us now? Will Target finally put out something past wave two? Will HTS stock wave 3 and 4 individuals? or will boatloads of wave 3 and 4 show up at TJ Maxx and Ross this time next year? (never have found a Lifeline or Zombie Viper) |

I have been to a couple of Targets around here recently, and it is pretty dry. I forgot how dry it can be this time of year. I am soooooo glad I ordered my stuff from Kokomo. I really don't think I'll be seeing waves 3 or 4 at retail, although I could be pleasantly surprised.

I'd say retail is hosed for the year, a few more trickle out, but remembering that I literally couldn't even find a toy section in January and February, I doubt much will come in. Better get them while you can online, and forget crazy army building on those waves. Personally I found a bit of Wave 3 and Wave 4 retail, got a couple of spares, plus my BBTS and I'm good till the movie comes out.

It's a tricky time of year, and as I've stated in other threads the recipe for disaster is out there. Stores are going to try and clear out whatever they can until February, at which point we have Valentines day, not a typical "toy buying holiday". Just like ROC wave 1 and 2 I have a feeling that were going to see mass amounts of the first two waves of 30th/Renegades. We'll hear of random sightings of wave 3 and 4 and not much else.
Easter is the next big toy time, which is right around when the Retaliation stuff should be hitting. Just like PoC we'll see the peg space dedicated to those toys, and the 30th line phased out. Target will finally price remaining Sky Strikers at 10$ or lower. Finally, over the summer, around time for JoeCon we'll see a thread "Wave 3 found at __________" insert Ross/Marshalls/Whatever. That's how the Llama sees it.

I don't think it's quite closed yet, but it's starting to move in that direction.
Stores will probably try to move out whatever product they have left in their distribution centers over the next month or two, and then that will pretty much be that. Also I think most stores do inventories in mid-late January, which usually means minimal restocking at best. The exception possibly being Toys R Us, who keeps "older" product on shelves longer, and doesn't look to have gotten too much of Waves 3 and 4 through the stores yet. I've often found "rare"/hot figures at TRU many months after release. Either way, Hasbro and the retailers are probably going to want the 30th/POC stuff to be sold-through by late April/Early May...not that it will completely happen, but still. EDIT: This year is also a little strange, because there's a major launch happening in late January (The Star Wars Episode I 3D stuff). |

Yeah , so do I... but I just had to ask. I want to have hope in finding the remaining 30th anniversary figures.
Granted, it IS only five days after Christmas... I'm jumping the gun a bit on my anxiety. Last edited by captain mal; 12-30-2011 at 10:46 AM.. |

I don't want to jump on the fear-mongering bandwagon, but I've got to believe that with Hasbro's distribution that some of us have really missed the boat. Here in Michigan, most of us never even caught a whiff of the packaging on those waves (pun intended.)
It's almost like we're being steered toward the online retailers by Hasbro's distribution policy. We (most of us) never found the Rock Viper/Crazylegs wave here in Michigan either. And they're not available with most of the online retailers. I'm really starting to wonder about production numbers on these waves... Does anyone know about production numbers? Are these waves produced in lower numbers? |

Its kindof like the Gammorean Guard for Star Wars last year. Absolutely AWESOME figure... but it was on the pegs for one week - and one week only. Almost like Hasbro plans things this way - to make them more desirable and collectable.
(I think I have an extra Crazy Legs - if anyone finds me a Lifeline I'll do an even-swap!) |
